Hey all. Doing a repower for a guy who don't have the hours today to get to Madison WI. Getting hammered right now, 1 hour after swap. SW of Indy, STW and TornWarns. Tornadoes in Indy, north of Indy and east of Indy. Freaking surrounded. Nine hours to go 400 miles.
Not driving in this yet. Radar looks like I got almost an hour yet before worst of threat and winds die down and I can roll. Gonna be super tight.
Kraft production load. grrr
Keep 'em rolling and between the lines.

Hope everyone's doing well this holiday weekend.
Came thru Ohio yesterday and must have counted at least 40 bears! Pulled into a rest stop and DOT was doing random inspections. They checked my log book, then sent me on my way. Good thing I flagged that pit stop!
650 miles yesterday. Mother will protest, but I started at 0830 and turned off the key at 1931, including the one pit stop.
At Iowa 80 overnight. Heading for a monday morning delivery in Ogden.... unless I can get a repower in Wy getting me home.
Monday's mama's birthday. I need to be there to remind her how old she is.
Well, I should be there anyway.
later. -
Been away from the forumn for awhile and when I signed back on it wouldnt let me post, and Id forgotten my password also, lol.Sucks to get old.Me and the co-driver have been doing the I-80 for the last two weeks.Cant get off this thing.Pick up a load headed for Cali, repower a load going back to Cedar falls.Trying to get home, unload this morn at Target, get to the pilot here in Waterloo, get a call.No freight heading to Texas until Tuesday,or can pick up a load for Cali manana.Cant sit for three days just to get home,so back across 80.Gotta love the holiday weekends.Gonna get on my managers behind on Tuesday.Gotta believe they are using my truck as a hotel room because of the holiday. They love doing that.As far as the trainers misinforming new alliance drivers,we have some poor trainers out here that just dont get the jist of how you have to run as a solo alliance driver.Thats because they train and have forgotten what you have to do to run solo on the alliance side. The guys are right.Dont turn down loads, and stay on dispatch and your manager to get the miles.I was kissthat frog, now frogmeister.
-
Corporal,if your manager doesnt get the job done, you as an alliance driver on the dark side can change managers. And also be proactive. The day before unloading in an area, call up the planner in charge of the area you are heading into and ask if they can hook you up.Get to know the planners and dispatchers in each particular area. You dont have to just rely on your manager or the planners and just take what they give you.Case in point.Me and the co-driver were heading to corinne,Utah and a preplan pops up,800 miles,4 days.WTF.Im a senior driver with a student on board,we are losing money at that rate.So instead of just excepting it,I call up Lillian whose in charge of the northwest and say whats up.I cant take that load I tell her, well I could take it lol,but your wasting mine and my co-drivers time. She says I know your two drivers and changes my load. Before you except a bad load, make some calls and see if it can be changed. That way your not down as turning down a load.Once you acknowledge a load there is nothing that can be done.Hang in there and keep your mpg up,and the money will come.I transflowed the other day,2930 miles and netted 1200.It can be done.Good luck.Corporal_Clegg Thanks this.

Well here I am in beautiful downtown Ogallala, NE.
Whoohoooo!
If I could have made Cheyenne, I had a repower for me to go to Portland.
But alas...I'm running at the ragged edge of my hours as it is. Mother is going to look at these last couple days and accuse me of compressing, however, since I start and stop with out any breaks... 650 miles yesterday...10hrs, 58mins.
611 miles today. 10.25 hrs.
Yea...she'll call me on those.
Into Ogden tomorrow, then deliver monday morning. Then off to Jerome for some cheese headed to Jolliet.
Jolliet? You'd think it would be cheaper to get cheese from Wisconsin!
Stay dry everyone! -
Emulsified its funny you should say that about the cheese,we picked up a load of swiss cheese in Logan,Utah headed for Marathon,Wisconsin. Can you believe that.LOL.I said WTF,LOL. Thats like shipping Cali oranges to Florida, gotta love it.Which we do by the way.lol.

just to let you all know stevens has to be the slowest trucks out there. I guess at a big 26.cpm you can afford to go slow. If i was out to make money and wanted to be a trainer i would work at stevens. the trainers make good money i hear. ok be safe out there. oh and always go 10mph below constuction zone posted speed. Safe yea real safe.
-
If your an alert and concious driver then it should not matter at what speed you go. Believe it or not I notice that alot more people here in Michigan now go slower on the e-way than what they did years ago. And I am talking 4 wheelers. This is the same old complaint from a bunch of whinners that feel that all drivers should do what they do. What ever! Just slow down and be consistant and you will make the same amount of $$ and at a afer and more relaxed work enviroment.
Corporal_Clegg and Rattlebunny Thank this. -
I like slow. Gives me time to take a nap while I get there.
andrew5184 Thanks this. -
LMAO yea relax and take your time. I would bet if your truck wasn't goverend down so much you would go faster. Oh but why your making big $$ at stevens. oh and your so safe ok grampa
just keep defending that super safe co you work for.
