1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I know this is an old post but I can't resist. If you don't have an on-board spy, use paper logs and were not trained thinking you need a 34 hour restart you can run some miles. Yes, it requires creativity, multi-tasking and work ethic but you can do it legally and be left alone. You can run 3600 miles every week using 60 hours/7 days.

On the 7th day you go off duty and then it starts again. You have to group together loading, unloading, fueling and PTI as much as possible and maybe fudge on some on duty not driving start times. But you don't have to drive more than 9.75 hours a day at an average of 62 MPH. That is 604.5 miles per day or 3627 miles per week or 15717 miles per month.

You will have to keep the door shut and the wheels turning though. Trust me there are still small to medium sized reefer companies out there doing just that. If you want to use the 70 hours/8 days you can do 4232 miles in a week and you can do this 4 times in 32 days or just over a month for about 16090 miles a month. I do not understand the the need for a 34 hour restart. If you are a truck driver, why not run the miles until it is time to go home.

I guess it depends on your priorities and work ethic but in most cases miles equal money. For me running 2500 miles a week after the cost of being on the road only leaves me $60 more than I can make doing service work. I have to be on-call but I sleep in my own bed. Trucking is in my blood but I'd have to have miles to make it worthwhile to be on the road. I just can't believe what mega-companies and bad drivers have done to the industry.
