Have to disagree somewhat with Gears statement. In that the driving life of a O/O is different than that of a company driver in many ways.
True and i do agree every driver be he a company or O/O should do everything they could to try and cut and save the coast of running a truck; but their are things that an O/O is in control of that a company driver is not.
What load to take. Is it worth the extra time used for loading or unloading.
Pay for miles from a to b. O/O controls what he/she wants to be paid for those mile or more less what he is willing to take for them so he can control how much he makes as the driver.
And thats just two little things that come to mind. I know theres no easy answer fuel coast and its high. Its a normal coast of a trucking company and what there profit will be at the end of the day. But to the company driver its time that use to go from a to b so to another load to go from b to c that makes his money . -
There IS such a thing...........22.5 tires is something like 215......24.5 tires 205.
A common trick is for fleets to use the 24.5 parameters for 22.5 tires.
It makes you THINK you're going faster than you are.....about 4 mph. -

kajidono said: ↑Thought there might be. The trucks have all the factory settings. If mine had new tires on it, it'd be accurate. So it's set right, and they have no access to those settings to change them. All they can change is the top speed and the cruise speed. If they could change those settings, I'm not sure how often they'd have to do it to keep all the trucks accurate all the time but it'd be more than I'd want to mess with.Click to expand...

Ah ok. So I can actually show him this setting. How often would you have to do it to keep it accurate? And is it really worth it to keep adjusting 75 trucks?
Oh hey, idea. How hard is it to get a copy of that software for myself? That would solve that problem for me anyway. -

...might mess up a bunch of trucks too!
I rotate my drives around 150,000-ish. Seems like a good time to get it done! -

That Trooper hasn't been out there for quite some time and since they raised the speed limit to 70 mph on I-95, you don't see as many Emporia Police taking your picture. They never really mess with us as our company is home grown local and pumps in a lot of revenue to the county.Click to expand... -
