STAR TRANSPORTATION--wrost of the worst

@48PACKARD...UHHH, JAY(FM) left in dec, we lost 2 girls in customer service last november, a female fm quit 2 weeks ago, mike who handle driver problems quit bout 3 months ago, don in shop quit last year. 90% of the shop is new. Ronnie in safety left last year for better pay, his replacement, mark, lasted 1 yr in ronnies job and quit. A lot of people are gone

 

Bigjoel..ut right..that's about the norm for pay # the bottom. Its just real sad to me man..no driver out here who is half way decent at his job should be getting less than 40cpm. No driver in these times should be under $50k year. I pulled out my w-2's from 1999 when I was driving..I made 40% more in 1999 than I did with star last year...and I stayed out 2-3 wks at a time. Bad freight, bad dispatchers...a dispatcher has full control of your weekly income, you hometine, your attitude.

 

Its sad company's pay that low in 2011...

 

@packard48..mike salyers, that's right..I couldnt remember his last name. Yeah, 1 of the best guys I had ever had the chance to know. I actually talked to him the day before he left..said he was leaving because the pay was juat to low. When they cut drivers pay they also cut all back office pay. Mike went over to big g trucking along with 2 other dispatchers from star who I can't remember their names. Big g offered mike $100 more a week in pay he said...no brainwr. Ronnie went to some container company to their safety dept..again for more pay. We loat a few people to hearattacks last year also...not aure 48packard if u remember jamie on duel sept. She had heartattack at home last year, only 35 years old. We had long time local driver in nashville have
heartattack and pass away along with one of our drivers who had been here 20+ yrs. Had local guy on memphis shoot himself last year at home. Seems to be lot of stress here at star.

Also the other mike(can't remember last name)who was above mike salyers..he left bout 2 months before mike salyers. He had been here over 10 yrs I think. 48packard, what are doing now after leaving star in 04. When covnt. bought us it went down hill and now is really bad. We are on electronic logs. All vacation pay is capped # $500. Drop pay is now $10..used to be $20 when u were here. No pay raises in 2 years. Half of the holiday pay has been eliminated. Trucks run 63-65..they say they put trucks at 68, but u have to get 7.2mpg to get that and its impossible with the heavy freight we pull. You got out at a good time 48packard.

 

Your welcome 48packard. Short guy with bald head..he was the local nashville driver who had heart attack..real nice guy...I only saw him few times at the yard..always waived to you. Mike salyers will know...not gonna put my name out here, but tell mike 1 of his drivers said hey and that star is falling apart...he left at a good time.
