I wish you well. At least you're going in with knowledge. I went to CRE back in '96 (even before the days of the flease), and it was bad enough then. I lasted 3 months as a company driver, but it was enough to get me another gig. Just wish this website had been around back then!flyingswine Thanks this. -
Good luck to you,get through your year and move on.

Well actually being a company driver won't teach you anything accept how to drive the truck. If you don't know how to calculate your break even point you have no business fleasing. Oops I mean leasing.
-
You got 5 years experience. Why did you even go with CRE?!
-
good question.

Driver, If you are committed to driving for CRE I highly suggest that you go company. I hate to promote the company but aside from the butt raping I endured, they seemed CSA compliant, did not seem to have a shortage of freight and the equipment I saw the company drivers wasn't all that bad. If you can endure the gestapo-esque Burns Harbor experience, The nasty hotel they'll put you in and the orientation spiel- then it's going to be the same as any of the other big companies. A few words of advice: make sure you have a couple hundred bucks and laundry soap. Pack as lite as you can and still have what you need and keep to yourself at Burns. Stay awake, alert and on your game. The Burns experience is more of a culling trial than a hire process. Make sure you have all your license and personnel info with you. Pay particular attention when the go over Quallcom dispatching and THEIR electroninc logging. Your ability to use the EOL will give the edge coming out of the shoot. It is NOT the avg, run of the mill Quallcom canned macros. Watch your miles, watch your check and be safe neighbor.

Just another guy's thoughts: I think if a person had some overhead to offset the first month's running CRE's lease program would def be a success. Fuel, truck payment and insurance. Where they got me was by sending me into Jersey and putting me in a position that I could not get my bills in. CRE offers a scanner purchaseable thru the company, GRAB IT. I was still liable for the truck, fuel and insurance and it was doubled up right from the start.. I started in the hole. I'm no rookie and can run the 650 miles a day legally and comfortably-- keep that door shut, with ANY company- miles equal revenue. Period. Another good point is don't get suckered by the new trucks-- go older and quicker paid off. I really feel that going into it with a good $10K is the key to success when leasing. There's far to many contingancies the company can execute to their own benefit. As for CRE, the lease contract itself is a half inch thick and you BETTER believe they have covered their kiesters in every available miniscule fine print legally possible. I am with a small company now, comfortabley so-- they have a lease program in the works and I think I will take advantage of it. However I think this oppertunity will be the exception and not the rule. The company has an extremely lucrative local aggregate biz that is their bread n butter and the otr side is an extra for them. These folks actually WANT me to succeed. So with that, and a prayer to the Wheel Gods.. I'm off !

You're currently going from one lousy outfit to the next. Seriously take sometime off and re-evaluate your options because you will find no success at CR England. Even with prior issues you will need to seriously consider how this is affecting the work history you're trying to build. I would ask around on the forum for driver support on getting to a better company.flyingswine Thanks this.
