How bad can it be to get another plate? When I started driving this one, the plate had been torn off by debris rolling across the road, and they'd gotten another one in less than a week from my start date (although I don't know how long before I took this truck it had been that way).

Wish I could find the law myself. The best I've been able to find (and by no means saying it's factual, just could be) is a wiki page for Vehicle Registration Plates in the US. The pic shows Indiana is a 1 plate state. Of course don't I don't even know if that also applies to CMV's.

It don't work that way, you'll more likely end up in cuffs till the problem is figured out to see if the truck is stolen or not. Especially if they check the registration and the VIN doesn't match the plate, then it still may be towed.

What makes SNI think they are better than everyone else? They don't have to follow the law, yet I hear one of their big shots on "The Lockridge Report" boast how they are all about safety and requiring everyone to have EOBRs, yet they don't need to have license tags on their trucks?

Just my opinion. If you get caught and get a ticket/towed. I think they are going to blame you anyway. You know none of them take responsibility for anything. Good luck

I've never driven for the Big Orange Party, but it's common sense- don't drive without a license plate, you'll get ticketed, fined, or put out of service. Don't make up a fake plate or you'll get ticketed, fined or put out of service. And for CRYING OUT LOUD, DON'T DRIVE and get caught without a plate in the June Safety Blitz. You'll get ticketed, fined or put out of service. Sounds like no one in the Big Orange Party cares whether you get fined, ticketed or put out of service for not having a license plate.
In Texas, you'll be parked while your V.I.N. gets checked and run through the computer. Then they'll open the hood and make sure the V.I.N. on the frame matches the one on the cab. If it doesn't, it's a FELONY and you can kiss your ride good-bye. No m.v. in Texas is allowed to operate with more than one V.I.N.
Only God can help you if the West Texas Drug Task Force finds you without a license plate. Not having one is now your smallest problem. You're going to get intimidated, searched, interviewed, sniffed by the doggies and treated like a county jail inmate. You'll most likely get towed and impounded until a plate arrives and is "securely fastened" to the front of the vehicle. Same thing in Florida.
My best advice is to take a vacation until the problem gets fixed. It's your money that pays the fines, and you know the Big Orange Party will disown you and deny everything if the worst happens.
    Good luck..
