Antenna Recommendations

    I have a post going about what radio and I have it down to 2:
    Cobra 29 XL LE Chrome
    Cobra 29 LTD LX
    And I want to add the RFX75 to it too

    What is a recommended for a good antenna for my PU Truck and also for Big Rig too.

    I will check that out. There is a TA on I-40 about 15 miles from my house.

    As long as the antenna is over 4 foot it should work well ...... The real short ones are useless.

    I have seen ones 18 inch long :biggrin_25512: on Cb that means they are only 15% of a 1/4 wave logic tells us that an't going to cut it ......

    Yep the realy short ones are not very good ....

    The part that does not make much sense is how much more $$ they want for those short antennas too.

    NO KIDDING .......

    But many look at a 18 inch antenna as if it was a C-Phone or FRS/GMRS radio on 460 mhz not 27Mhz and do not understand how antennas work.
    You can sell just about anything IF you keep the price high and lie about what it will do ..... Take JOGUNN Antennas they even say they have AUDIO GAIN .....

    At 11/10 meters a 4 foor antenna is about as short as I would make one .... I run 7 foot HAM STICKS on 40 - 10 meters .... even made a ground radial system out of them for my last 20-10 meter vertical .

    That is one of the reasons I come on here too. I do not know much about the antennas, and I am thankful that folks like you are out here to help those of us that do know know what is good and what is bad.

    I too would like one of those really short antennas just cuz they are compact and all, and I would not have known that they just dont work as well.

    I will be stopping at the TA that is close to my house this week and look at one of the antennas that was recommneded on here.
