That's an interesting way of putting it....Very funny....lol...I guess for the most part it doesn't really hurt anything then...I'm assuming if it left on...It would be on low. not high...

I never had any trouble, and one of my trucks is a 99 pete w/ series 60 that has 2 120 000 km on it and It has a heck of a jake. besides, double clutching may "save" your engine, but then you are spending $2-3k a year on clutches..... no thanks, thats the same as a new head every 2.5 years!
But I suppose, some guys can't jake shift and some can't NOT do it. Its just whatever you are used to different strokes and all that.
Anyone here ever had issues with that? I don't know any one who hastrucker_101 Thanks this. -
If you feather the throttle right, you don't ever have to turn your jake off. You don't need the clutch.
jr-transport and trucker_101 Thank this. -
I hav heard of many drivers doing this,,, and from what I understand it all technique...trucker_101 Thanks this.

And Practice. Lots Of Practice. I very seldom use the clutch.
I used to explain to people that it's like juggling.
Is it easier to juggle with 2 things or 3 things.
Stick + throttle=2 things.
Stick +Throttle + clutch=3 things. -
Opposite here. Use Engine Brake when only is needed for ex. donner pass. All other time i use service brakes cuz theyr cheaper to replace compare to adjusting engine brake.
-
I'm not a mechanic, but I have never heard of a jake needing adjustment because it was used too much.
But I've been wrong before.
RAG, Raiderfanatic and jr-transport Thank this. -
I concur. I drove a bus around town had them running non-stop, never had a problem in fact I rarely used the service brakes.jr-transport Thanks this.
