This guy is not telling the truth whatsoever.

"They have some good trainers but really don't have work or available trucks for all the new recruits they hire every week."

That is not true Werner has plenty of miles. I had a trainer for 4wks and we had a run from el paso to Chicago twice a week do the math on that. And yes there are more miles on dedicated accounts than just running over the road. And there plenty of dedicated accounts.

Well keep me posted if they terminate you. My son was terminated for hard braking as registered by the onboard computer, during a retest.Started 1/3/11 terminated 4/12/11.So now no other OTR company will hire him,Werner says come back in 6 months and we will retrain you. It took him 2 weeks before they gave him a truck that was drivable, then 6 days later canned him for BS. Stay out of the terminals if you can because that's where they will nail you. He had a perfect driving record before this, basically team driving 48 states with his trainer. The trainer said he was one of the best students he ever had and would team with him if he didn't have kids that needed him home so much.$298 take home for 12 weeks then $141,then $76 take home while waiting for his truck. They couldn't starve him out so they canned him for BS.Like I said if you can, avoid the terminals, especially Omaha, you have less risk of them nailing you not going there.

I don't understand why he had to retest if he got off the truck with the trainer. Why would would they check the computer if he was doing a driving test they already know that your not seasoned driver. Yes it can take a long time to get a truck I don't know why my guess is they hire to many ppl before they get trucks in. A group of guys went up to memphis to get 10 trucks. And no they don't have to pay for that wait but they paid me. I rarely got to terminals I have only been to two Dallas and the one in Ohio I hate the terminals based on how they make the rules about equipment and the security guards act like they own the world I have my own issuses with the terminals but one go if I need to and my dm never wants us to go to a terminal he always let's me go to any shop or truck stop that I like that Werner will deal with he hates terminals. I believe there is more to story.

What happened was one of those power hungry security guards in Omaha, claimed my son rolled past the guard shack without stopping .When my son told safety that's bs I stopped and talked to her,he even gave them her name, then they said well the guard said you didn't come to a complete stop at a sign outside the terminal ,so we have to retest you. It was safety's word against his and he had no witness to dispute what they said. The tester said you passed the retest then 2 hours later the head of safety (Mark)called him in and said we reviewed the on board computer and are failing you for hard braking. He protested but it was their word against his,so they gave him a Greyhound ride home. After a month of applying for driving jobs with no luck thanks to that termination on his DAC, he found a job as a roofer for $18 per hour, works 7-3:30 and home every night. His only complaint is the heat, and if somebody would give him a driving job for the same money he would go for it. But I think only Werner could clear him now but as long as he's got this roofing job,he's fine. What gets me is he had no incidents in the 3 months he was running all over with his trainers, and both of his trainers gave him good reviews.

I'm not going to say that'd not true but it seems that they net way of the way to get rid of him. Safety really doesnt simple stuff becuz they are constantly dealing with ppl who had accidents. I was a mechanic before I was a driver an a company fired me becuz I went on a road call 3 months earlier. And stats that I didn't enter it in the computer when all I did was by-pass an airbag which cost $5 and 10 minutes. So I so believe that ppl get fired for stupid reasons but I think are really padded.

It worked out to his advantage anyway. He's home every day and making good pay $700- $900 per week with a possiblity of a lot more if he goes through the Union Apprenticeship program. Drivers aren't paid nearly enough for what they do IMO.Best of luck to you!

When you start driving you do not make any money. One you have to pay you dues. Two insurance is really high for inexperienced drivers to compensate for that they pay young drivers and new inexperienced drivers less. By the way I take home what your son grosses and I love my job and get to do what I love everyday

Are you on a dedicated account? He was supposed to team on a Harley Davidson dedicated account and would have been making good coin.
