So im thinking of a driving career in the next few months and Im wondering with the invention of Electronic Logs does this mean the old days of drivers running 2 and 3 log books are over?????:biggrin_2554:

    Why would they be over?

EOBR's are just that. They are recorders. They don't stop a truck or a driver, they just show activity like a log book does.

and you can always unplug them, put a bucket over the satellite receiver, etc... Ignore the calls from the company after doing so.

But remember when you do cheat on your logs, post on a public forum that you got away with it! Hehehehehee

They will be over once DOT makes everyone use e-log.I prefer e-log it shows a true time and other then driving you can edit that time.DOT officers just glance at your screen and send you on your way.If at all..

Just remember to tell everyone that you tell that story to, ...... not
to tell anyone, or someone might tell the last person in the world you'd want anyone to tell, 'cause there's no tellin' who's listenin' to the tall tales told by tattlin' Big truck truckers tellin' stuff they were told not to tell.

There are three, known, forms of communication.
    First is the telegraph,
    Second is the telephone, and
    Third is
    tell-a-trucker.

An EOBR simply tracks. It doesn't stop operation of the vehicle (just like a paper log) so if I say fug it and carry on what happens besides nothing? What's the chance of being caught? When was the last time I had a log checked? Years ago...

I don't run 2 and 3 log books at once... I run 2 and 3 trucks at once on the same log book. :biggrin_25526:

It's a great question, eLogs have been available for years yet very few companies utilize them. Probably even less understand them, on the bright side it's looking like increased job security for me.
