A company that I worked for long time ago used to have a run, once every month, Minneapolis to Anchorage. Many drivers wanted that run, but only one got it. It was Cat Generators, and then back mt. Flatbed.

I worked for a company that had a similar kind of run hauling bulk grease for mining equipment from St. Louis to Hyder, AK. They used a three-compartment piston trailer so it was empty from Calgary to St. Louis, loaded to Hyder and then empty back to Calgary. That was a highly sought-after run, about 5,500 miles round-trip.
EDIT: Before anyone gets their panties in a twist about a Canadian company hauling a load originating and terminating in the U.S., the mine was actually in B.C., but the only way to get there was via Hyder (which can only be reached by road via B.C.).Last edited: Jun 1, 2011

good luck cannuck--how much time do you have left before the mean green card--or do you have it all ready???
i think the citizen part only comes to play for military loads-if you have a green card you are good to go
