They run monthly sales. That price was likely valid the night before you were there.
Or maybe not. If it's still on the website print it out and take it in to the store.

I would think for my PU I would want something simple like a magnet mount antenna. So my thinking on what I seen with the Wilson at the TA was correct, you need to buy something more with it to use it???
Thank you -
It looks like his mouth is in overdrive, and his brain is in park again. As everyone has tried to tell him. Because he just doesn't say anything that really makes any sense. How, or where do you mount a 8 1/2 ft antenna. And what about on the fiberglass trucks. -
Umm right off the front bumper along a pogo stick or noob tube whatever you wanna call them.
-
Heck I ran a 96 inch wip on 10 FM on the trunk of my 79 caddy and it was a sight on a car I can just see how it would look on a truck
-
What about the fiberglass bumpers? You need a ground plane for the 102" to work.

I can just see that thing whipping back and making a mess out of the hood and possibly the windshield. LOL.
On a side note, was rolling north on ND highway 1 between Oaks ND and Valley City ND. A pheasant popped out of the ditch and wrapped itself around the base of one of my wilson 5000s. Pushed the mirror bracket almost against the door. Antenna took the hit with stride and did not even whimper. Had to stop and remove the dead bird from my antenna and clean the guts etc off my mirror.
Even the best fiberglass antenna would have been toast.
As far as the mag mount wilsons, they come with preattached coax etc and are pretty close to plug and play. You might have to tune it a bit and the cobra radio has an internal SWR meter on it that will get you close.
The upper whip can be moved up and down to get the best SWR. If going down gets you close but still not below 2:1 then you may have to remove the whip, clip about 1/4 inch off and go from there.
A bit of advise that I picked up on this forum from Gadfly, Use a straightened out coat hanger in place of the whip for tuning before you go clipping the actual whip. This will get you real close to a proper tune, take the coat hanger and measure it then cut your whip to the same length.
I made this mistake on my 5000s, was trying to tune them and started clipping them and was not getting down close enough for a safe SWR reading. Here I had a ground issue which was driving my SWR a little high, Now my whips are too short to get lower then about 1.9:1. Now I need to get two replacment whips for my 5000s.HD_Renegade Thanks this. -
Rat,
Thank you for the tips here. -
ALOT of us local tri axle drivers run a full length whip right off the front bumper with it connected to the light post on the front. ill try to snap a picture. no clue about fiberglass bumpers, run a ground wire maybe?

The Wilson 2000 black antenna AFTER a mail-in-rebate ends up costing $30. in round figures. I do not have the exact price after rebate, something like $29.97.
.
The T/A price is in the Road King magazine that is usually found near the from door or the bathrooms. The price is advertised in the Road King magazine issue that is for the months of May and June 2011. So prices should be good during the months of May and June 2011. Road King magazine are always for 2 months [Jan/Feb is one issue, May/June is one issue and etc.]
