What's Wrong with Fingerless Gloves?

Nothing, if your are riding a bicycle!

 

fingerless gloves come in handy when you want to pick your nose...






i only wear gloves riding the motorbike...and during the winter.
as a former mechanic i find it amusing that mechanics nowadays wear latex or mechanics gloves, to me, that's being a sissy mechanic, maybe they ought to be wearing a ballerina tu-tu as well......never did i wear gloves working as a mechanic..

a real mechanic gets his hands dirty.....

 

Yeah, darn straight... there's no way there could be any carcinogens or heavy metals in all that grease and oil. In fact, a "real mechanic" doesn't even wash his hands to eat.

well i'm fine, been fine for over 20 odd years since getting out of the business, i don't notice those open sores on my hands and arms that much....hell, i probably inhaled so much asbestos doing clutch and brake work, when i cough up my left lung, it goes back into it's place in my chest..

you gotta stop worrying so much about cancer and such other so called threats to life at a job one does...

otherwise, we'd all be hockey players, wearing helmets...!!!

 

They want to keep their soft hands while holding on to that big steering wheel. Okay a guy thinks he needs to drive with them but take them off before getting out of the truck. I laugh everytime I see Billy Big Rigger walking into the truck stop with his fingerless gloves on and his chain drive wallet and wearing his cop sunglasses. Like he is trying to say something with out saying a word like don't mess with me because I am a bad ### and I drove 250 miles today in my Freightliner with my automatic tranny and I will kong ## your ### in a heartbeat.

In all seriousness I think they wear them is for the video games in the truck stops, they get a better grip on the joystick.

When I grease/lube trucks on the weekends, (yep, dispatch, drive, and now this) I wear the latex gloves just so I dont end up with grease on the driver's steering wheel, shifter, door, etc. We pull our trucks into the shop bay to grease them, I see no shame in trying to keep the cab clean without having to scrub on my hands after every truck.

 

When dealing with customer vehicles you need to drive, where cars today have this stupid light colored interior, and truck drivers complain about a speck of dirt, wearing gloves is just easier.

As someone who works in the shop I dont care if I have to wear gloves or not, but if you tell me to wear em, you better buy em. I am doing my job either way. I guess the plus to working for a small fleet is that you can have your fun screwing with the drivers because you know what their peeves are.
