Ok, After a few years of holding a wheel, I have noticed loss of firm mass, muscle, being replaced with soft mass aka Fat.

for the last few weeks I have been keeping a 32 inch bungy strap int he cab. I removed one of the hooks. I hook it to the seat and use to work out a little. You can grab the strap in different areas to increase or decrease the amount of "weight". You don't have actual weights floating around in the cab to worry about and it is much easier to deal with when driving.

Get creative with it. use different techniques to so that you are using different muscle groups.

I have actually toned up, firmed up quite a bit using a strap.

As far as the belly, well I have found another technique. I will flex my stomack muscles and hold them flexed and rotate between flexing outward and inward while holding them As tight as possible.

On another positive note, Instead of lighting up, I grab the strap and do a short work out. I have dropped from a two to three packs a day down to less then one pack a day.

I don't recomend these techniques while in busy areas. But out onthe open road were traffic is very thin then it might be ok as long as you can still drive properly.

I have noticed that my BP has dropped some since I started doing this also and so has my blood sugar. That and I have lost some of the soft mass and it is slowly being replaced with firm mass again.

Another exercise you can do is to use the side of the bed frame and do some dips (anywhere from 100-200 a night). Doing this for myself definitely has kept me in shape along with carrying a 55lb hand weight. Point is health is a major concern espcially when the opportunity presents itself to become out of shape and the focus has to remain high to stay in shape. Good luck and drive safe!

I would recommend against doing dips with your body in front of your arms. It wreaks havoc on your shoulders. It's worse than doing presses behind the neck. Given time, your rotator cuffs will be screwed. Instead, do various pushups. Much safer.

I had torn rotator backin 99 and dr. gave me a length of surgical tubing to work my shoulder.I still have it and use it Lots of different exercises you can use it for.Tie it off in a circle about 5 feet long and double it up till you get the resistance you want.
