    You deserved the ticket!

There is nothing more stupid than some idiot truck driver playing the block the traffic game in these situations...You accomplish NOTHING other than moving the backup further back and pissing off everyone in the process.
Four wheelers and other idiot truck drivers will pass you in the lane that's ending but if you're a true pro, You just let'em fight over it and wait your turn...It was a good lesson to learn early in your career.

I've done my share of cooperating with another truck driver to keep 4-wheelers from jumping line. But here is what I see almost every time any other truck drivers do this. One blocks the lane and the other rides slightly ahead or behind the blocker, and then they wind up hundreds and hundreds of yards behind the traffic in front of them. I can only guess they are too effing lazy to speed up or slow down to stay close to the traffic in front of them.

When I've done this I'll coordinate with another truck driver but I tell him I'm not going to leave a large gap between us and the traffic in front of us. I've driven ahead and left drivers behind if they won't keep up.

If you do what I described in the first paragraph, you might as well set your truck on fire and wave red flags you attract so much attention from any cops. I know it's easier to leave it in one gear and keep a steady speed rather than speeding up and slowing down. You have no right to make the traffic jam longer just because you are too lazy to shift and brake.

If you are going to block a lane, don't leave a big gap. Pay attention and get down the road. I've seen gaps over 100 yards between the rolling trucker road block and the vehicles in the thru lane. They ought to yank your license for being too stupid for that trick.

Very well said--and the only thing that PO me more--is the guy who comes up along side me in that situation--shouting at me on the radio--while I am just leisurely riding down the lane that remains open--just relaxin--keeping a decent space tween me and whoever is in front--knowing full well I'm gonna get cut off a bunch(which is why I have a decent amount of space in front of me in the first place)with my truck in a comfortable gear so I can just kinda slow roll thru the deal--and said drivers--tells me how "WE" are gonna show these four wheelers--not to mess with "US" and then rides along to the end--and of course starts giving me dirty looks--when I am not responding to him on the radio! Hmmmm?

I disagree, even if there is a big gap, I don't care as long as you're moving. More efficient than stop and go, as long as your moving it doesn't matter to me. BUT, if the gap gets to big go up a gear or two and just idle your way up.

I know from here on out I'll let someone else play the lane block game, I will just wait along with everyone else. Let someone else be the truck to p%ss everyone off, I have learned my lesson.

Illinois passed the law a few years ago because the politicians see speed limits as mere suggestions. They fly up 55 from the real state capitol to the capitol of cronyism and don't want anyone to get in their way. So they passed a law that if you hold up traffic in the hammer lane without passing or take too long to pass you can be ticketed.

The one type of block that I think is ok is all of those idiots that use the break down lane to try and get ahead of everyone else. Happens a lot on the cross bronx "expressway." I will block those idiots every time. Call me a jerk if you want, but that lane is for vehicles that have broken down or for emergency vehicles.
