For those thinking of joining Indian River, here are some facts you need to know.
1. Starting pay is .24c/ml + .08c per ml cost of living expense = .32c/ml.
How dose this affect you? If you get hurt on the job your compensation is based on .24c/ml not .32c/ml. Same as applying for a mortgage or any other credit. Worse yet if your building for social security it too is based on .24c/ml. not your full income.
2. Miles are unreliable and fluctuate.
3. You don't get layover pay until after 48 hrs and then it's $50. If you wait at a customer to load/unload 24 or 36 or more hours, it's your loss, detention and layover pay is rare. And even then you'll have a fight on your hands.
4. 2003 was the last per mile raise, however you always hear "were working on that!"
But you may get to drive a new pete? It's not a bad place to work as I hear drivers say.Last edited: Jun 4, 2011
