thanks for all the replys I actually tried to call swift and was on hold for a bit and started thinking about all the swift that I passed in a 63mph ryder truck and hung up. I will check them out again. I found that werner will let me train her and we will get my rate plus her training pay while she is in training.
Now im looking for a trucking school that wont rip me for $6k in the dallas area. -
If you were in AL, GA or FL I'd recommend Benny Whitehead Inc. However, being that you are from Texas, I'd say US Xpress, Conway, Raider Express, Trans Am, and JBS Carriers. My two cent opinion is that if you are gonna train, you need to do solo miles. Swift does team after 50 hours.

hmmmm
Okay here's how it was when we went through the Swift school and training.
My husband went through the school first because I'd been hurt in a fall off a ladder. He went to Swift's school and then went out with a mentor. While he was finishing with a mentor I went to the Swift School. My schooling was free because I was a spouse of a Swift employee. My husband finished with the mentor, got his solo truck and went solo. I finished orientation on Thursday I believe and on Monday I got on his truck with him as a mentor.
It use to be that a driver could attend the mentor class and be a one time only mentor to their spouse even as a new driver. In fact it use to be the two spouses could attend school at the same time and one wait while the other went out with a mentor.
I've been told by a recent graduate that on their fleet and at their Swift school they had to wait while the first spouse was out solo for a few months. I suggest that you ask the recruiter specifically about that.
Going team and mentoring with a spouse is not handled in the same way as the usual team and mentoring at Swift.
Frankly if you're going to go with Swift, want to train your wife and team with your wife I strongly suggest you also go to the Swift training. It's going to be the easiest route financially.
And no, we do NOT get a bonus for referring people to Swift as someone likes to claim.
Whatever y'all decide to do, where ever you decide to train and work I wish you and your wife the very best. -
I've probably got over a million miles. The main reason I want to go team is because Im tired of pushing with double log books and crappy trucks to make a living. I will defiantly check swift out Monday. Thanks again for the help.
Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
A CDL in 240 hrs, 3-4 weeks??? They make this sound like you a going to be a truck driver in that time, and once you have your CDL, you will make the BIG MONEY. Wrong, Wrong, Wrong. It will take you AT LEAST, MINIMUM, 6 months to back that truck up correctly, and feel comfortable at backing. These big companies make getting a CDL , like the movie, The Wizard of OZ, where they, get a Brain, Courage, and A Heart, all in 3 minutes. Well, not going to happen. I spent 5 years spotting in a yard, 10 - 13 hours a day, ALL DAY. TIME and PRACTICE is the only way.

Wait, if you run double logs or run on your wife's log Swift will fire you in a heartbeat. You can't even fuel on each other's comdata cards.

Texas-Nana Thanks this.
