Plan on them going back at least 10 years on both.

For a while during orientation they seemed very insistent on my providing them the number of a long since expired CA. DL, even though I left the state in 1976. It may prove helpful to bring the numbers of any previous DL's from prior years...if possible. In my case, they eventually dropped their request on the final day of orientation.

Best wishes in your new venture!

The law requires them to go back 10 years on employment history. They also check criminal history 20 years. For driving record I believe it is 7years, but it used to always be 10 years, not sure anymore as some states might not give a full 10 year history.

    TNJayjay Thanks this.

Don't have to worry about that as I have had the same License No. since I was 16 years old. I have lived in Tennessee since I was 9 years old.

Thanks...don't think I have anything to worry about. Got the dates and information on my resume.

I delayed sending in my application to USX because I was waiting for the medical releases from my doctors.

I've been walking everyday and my BP has never been a problem.

I'll make sure to bring enough information with me to satisfy any possible inquiry about my past history. I guess things that seem not so important to us apparently have great value to carriers when they are looking to thin out the herd.

Although thinning the herd may be a good idea my understanding that this is due to insurance company requirements. (Employment is DOT)

I agree. Insurance companies can easily motivate carriers to select the best candidates possible.

So we are running but not a super profitable weekend. We had a couple of Fleet Managers over the weekend who we have not worked with before. We had two trips in a row with two stops. Both about 700 miles and we are now on a 330 mile run with 12 hours in between. That is not what we are used to. My fleet manager said he is working on saving the week for us. Awesome guy.

Well I did it. I put in my application online today, though I plan on not beginning work for USX until at least Aug 22nd. I'm hoping they accept my 1st Seat from Werner, though I have less than 4 months with Werner and have not driven since Oct 2009. I'm going to go to my old CDL school to do a little brushing up on pre-trip, but not worried about the driving portion of orientation. A friend is finishing up his CDL training this week in Las Vegas and we plan to Team together. I thoroughly enjoy the information and ramblings on this and other (related) strings.
