Ok Redd.....Have you ever pulled out of Bonanza, UT?....The Gilsonite mine over there?
I'll bet you dinner you can't tarp the load in the afternoon in under an hour.........
BTW......The wind whips up (15-20 mph with gust up 30...) after lunch every day.....Just in time for the 'Bedders who need to tarp......![]()
So, you wanna be a skateboarder?

some people can do it--others cant---i am in the cant category--call me a whimp if you want or like--ok i actually can do it and have done it many times--but its a hell of a lot of work sometimes----i dont want to do it--i admire flatbedders for their chaining and tarping talents--in fact i even had to turn down a juicy job the other day and it was with a covered wagon--- so no real tarping--but unfortunately my back is so screwed up--it takes me a while to recover after strapping and tarping--so for now i will just watch from my ac air in the cab while i have a smoke and coffee---watching you guys work---

The only thing I'll help you do is press the button to raise the door to get out of my way. Throw the tarp(s) put on a few rubber straps to hold it and get out. No body behind you cares if you get wet finishing up outside. Not to sound mean but the tarp is there to keep the load from getting wet, not so you don't get wet while tarping. We didn't spend 13-15k on rolling tarps to get held up by hand tarping, it's 2011 get with the times.. You try and finish tarping at a few local places here and they'll fire you outside.
So you have no issue holding up other drivers doing your tarp workout?

Been there and done that. 11 stops in less than 8 hours, all Lowe's and all tarp and then re-tarp...in the rain.
Any more questions?

I actually did enjoy the load securement and tarping. Just can't find a good company to go with. So for now I'll pull this box and watch.

I never said I wanted to hold others up. However, it happens. If you're unwilling to help, that's fine. I never expect it. But then don't moan and whine over waiting a little bit.
As for getting with the times, you go right on ahead and start telling other companies how to run their businesses and let me know how that works for you. -
I see your idea of "waiting a little bit" daily, usually about 20-30 min per load on a good day which ends up costing me about $130.00 in lost time EACH TRIP. I suppose if you were to go through the drive-thru at a restaurant you would see no problem eating in front of the window while others waited? Probably also the guy that waits until he gets to the teller window at the bank to fill out your deposit slip?
I don't need to tell other companies how to run they're businesses. I'll let the people who work at the shipping places tell you. I go to 2 places weekly that will make you get out of the way. One has a sign in several places telling people like you to throw 2 chains per coil and pull outside. You would think that common sense and politeness would take over here but I guess not, truckdrivers need to be told. Another has one security guard there to make drivers finish outside because the mill employees got tired of playing babysitter.
