Hey all, My name's Jeff, and I'm looking to learn and I'm in the process of researching where to start for my CDL & training, I'm leaning towards Prime right now, but I have a lot more to check out as well, not looking to lease, at least at first, especially with these gas prices. ;) But I'm Definitely wanting to WORK! I am currently in northern Minnesota, so I'm probably going to end up giving somewhat more weight to the training offered in and near MN... but we'll see. :)

I'm sure the search feature will be invaluable and I posted this in another threat, but t hought it could actually be useful to include it here as well!

Thanks for all the great info! I'm sure I will find out most of my answers as I go through the research I've been doing, but I thought it probably best to go to people with actual experience instead of marketing hype. :)

I'm looking to get my CDL and get working, I've been a single father taking care of my son who just turned 18 and I'm looking to get back into the workforce (after almost 2 years of dealing with a troubled teen) and I have heard some people say Prime requires no gaps in your work history, which, for me, has been fairly non-existant lately. :)

Now that my son's 18 and out on his own, I'm itching to get back to work, though in todays economy obviously it's not the best time to get re-started. :)

Will my work history be a problem, I have clean driving record, can pass the drug test, I'm 35, Have my Minnesota Drivers License, but no CDL obviously yet, no Felonies, I had a minor bumper bump with no damage, but it's on my record (August 08, so it's actually almost gone)

What do you all think? How willing is PRIME to work with you? :)

How bout others? Any recommendations from personal experience? I know I love driving cross country, but the things I didn't like (when driving for a company in a car) was the whole sleeping in my car thing... :) Having a bed in the car... bonus. ;)

Thanks! :) Sooo many questions and so much to absorb. :) Does anyone know if the accident from august 08 will seriously negatively affect my employability, should I wait the couple months before it goes off? or just go for it? :)

I am with you on trying to learn and where to go.

I will tell you Con-Way and CREngland will not accept the accident, England for three years nd Con-Way for 5.

I was turned down because I told them about an accident that is not on my record and they refused me. In 40 years I have never had an accident citiation and one speeding ticket eleven years ago.

Thanks! :) It will be off my 3 year record by August... so hopefully it'll be ok with someone... if not I'll try again after that... I'll probably just try a couple for now as well as working with Voc Rehab services to pay for school on my own, which might be better... Hmm...
