When you fill up, don't say you topped off your tanks on the Mac 11. I had lots of problems running low on fuel early on. Once I started saying that I'd hadn't topped off, the problems ended. Maybe just coincidence.

I appreciate everyone who has chimed in. I am new to this, learning the protocol that I am guessing is a common practice industry wide. I was under the impression we, as truck drivers, make a lot, or 'decent' money, but I am under strong suspicion that what I have been hearing about swift is accurate. It exploits at all costs paying drivers .25 a mile which now I'm learning, is really painful. My check this week is 62 dollars. Thanks all

I found out yesterday, with much furor, that because my check last week was small, a measely 96 bucks, swift didn't take out my loan payment installment (done weekly, @100 a week for the loan) so what did they do?

They took out two installments in one check (this weeks). I am not infuriated at the part of paying the installments, but what I am infuriated about is the fact that I am on the road and I do need $$ to survive out here like the rest of you. Swift doesn't seem to put that into consideration.

I pay my bills, I pay back what is due, but they should not have done 2 installments in one paycheck. does anybody agree? Looking for greener pastures :biggrin_25513:

You need to learn to scan in your paperwork at the first fuel stop after completing the previous trip. Don't sit on the paperwork until it "is convenient" for you....

There is no physical way you could be active on 6 different DM's board screens. As a new solo, you have one DM (Developmental Fleet), one FM (fleet manager), and one Terminal manager...you are no longer under the guidance of the Driver Services coordinator.

This sounds like your DM passed the buck over to the weekend crew to handle the problem....bad DM by the way.

Your DM uses "fractured" words....you were given in orientation a chart describing this...they want to keep character usage to a minimum on the QC...learn the system it will help!

You MUST follow your FUEL ROUTE and fuel at the SPECIFIC locations on the route. You obviously had a L/O as a Mentor...L/O and O/O have "open" fuel cards, they can choose their own route and fuel spots.

    You shouldn't argue...try discussing!

They are now charging $100.00 per week for the school loan? Unbelievable...that is triple what is used to be...what about the 50% "refund" each week......

Do you still think you had a good Mentor? It sounds like you didn't learn much about how the Company system works and how the driver needs to handle the different issues. But that is a common occurrence with the L/O or O/O Mentor....they don't understand/remember the company quirks themselves, so how are they supposed to be teaching you how it works?

I had spent 6-7 weeks in training with swift and was ready to get out of there, I had 2 trainers they both had multiple break downs that left us at swift terminals 3 to 4 days each time. when I got out of training they got me a bus ticket to go home but to the wrong town I had to buy my own.
I had to buy an enforcer lock set at $80 when there $40 anywhere else.
when I got my own truck (it took 2 weeks to get) it took them 1/2 a day to find the key they never did really they had to call volvo and get the key code to make a new one. they didnt check out the truck at all so it was in the shop a week before I could hit the road. my first trip BL dest. did match the dispatch dest. I slept for 3 hours at the shipper while the dm worked on that one. he told me to go to the dispatch dest.
turns out I should have gone to the BL dest. 100 miles difference and because I got there sat morning I couldnt unload till monday morning so weekend at a truck stop (no pay) next trip every fuel stop I requested was 50-100 miles behind me. I finally stop at a rest area with very little fuel and waited 2 hours for them to give me the right fuel stop it was almost at the destination so I drove it in on fumes. 3rd trip my door came unhooked as I was backing up to a dock and broke a few hinges and they fired me. put me on a grey hound and I lost alot of the stuff I had in my truck + grey hound lost all my cloths for a month. one more thing that really pissed me off, I had loan swift money for cat scales and other company expenses since I didnt make much and had no money for this at times I had to get an advance that cost me $10 so I could pay for there company stuff. ok one more thing, when in training I was taught to check the tractor trailer for sabotage before leaving a truck stop because they are so hated. if you think they treat you bad when you work for them wait untill you dont anymore, then getting them to do anything is impossible.

I wasn't instructed on that in the orientation. This morning as I was waiting, after 4 hours sending a mac55, AGAIN, for the same stupid problem the truck is having, after having gone to 1 TA in Troy, ILL having the starter fixed, 2 fuel filters replaced. (Still did not address the problem of 1/2 truck power after this service), then having gone to another Swift Terminal in Manteno, ILL of which was down 2-3 days for them to repair and troubleshoot something related to the ECR valve, but they didn't replace the ECR valve, rather a small 1x3" tube. The truck ran fine for about 500+ miles (Also, I had light loads), but once I got a heavy load to a Walmart DC @44,600lbs, the 1/2 power issue starting arising again.

I sent a mac55, no response FOR 4 HOURS, on the side of I81 north 30 m before Scranton.

Swift is just too big to address drivers on an individual level. I talk to different DMs everynight after my assigned DM goes home. He/she is clueless as to the regular 'history' i have been having with this POS Prostar.

So back to your response, "Your DM uses "fractured" words....you were given in orientation a chart describing this...they want to keep character usage to a minimum on the QC...learn the system it will help!" They sent me a msg with fractured words, which later I come to find out that they sent another driver to retrieve my trailer, But I already left since my truck and its power was fine after sitting for 4 hours. And no response from the wonderful onroad dept.

Swift will leave you sitting on I81 N. for 4+ hours, until you bug them "uh hey im on the highway here......."
they refuse to tow, they will do anything to avoid a tow. I am rambling on here so much to say :biggrin_25510:

    MCMLXXi, In response,

I can see how they neglected you, I am seeing the same type of behavior from them. Ask them one thing, they deflect by answering something else. They don't address your concerns at all.

Yes, #.25c a mile, along with taxes, then your loan payment, one makes 1-200 a week.
