I am not bashing him at all. I followed his thread very closely for a long time, as did many others. We all did enjoy it as well. Regardlees of the reason he quit, it was very abrupt. Some were surprised and speculated on the reasons. He did jump on the offensive when people were just generally concerned. Remember, he did start this thread and did offer to open up his personal life outside of being a L/O for JCT. Wifes cancer, his eye surgery, etc. The way he quit was not genuine as to the way we came to know him. His close friends on the forum then defended him and wished him a happy retirement. Less than a week later he is asking who is going to Schneider orientation in Charlotte. Accidentally found the Schneider forum post. That does not sound like retirement to me. Regardless, all I did was set the story strait for all who wondered what happened or assumed he retired. Nothing was meant to be harmful. We all get wrapped up in eachothers business on here. So dont get mad at me. If you dont want me worrying about his choices, then he should not post and you few should not worry about what I am worrying about. You all took this the wrong way. This is an OPEN and PUBLIC forum. I am not questioning his choices. I just like honesty and sincereity whether in face to face situations or on a blog that I followed for 2+ years. Im sure many others expect that too.

How was the way he quit abrupt? Was he supposed to be notifying us all on the forum a few weeks before of his plans? I've seen PLENTY of people quit companies and let readers know they are no longer there. NONE of them gave any hint before they left, and that is the SMART way to do it, especially knowing who reads these forums.

The way he quit was not genuine? To who? You? Does it matter whether or not you or anyone else feels that it was "genuine" or not?

How do you know that was him on the PumpkinDriver page? Did you pull his IP and find out? If so, why? Why does it matter whether it sounds like a retirement to you or not?

Are you sure you got the story right? Can you document it using something else other than that quoted post from PD? Does it matter? Who do YOU drive for? Why? Is that the only company you drove for? Why did you quit the previous company? Where do you live? Where else on the internet do you post? Can you prove it?

(see how absolutely ridiculous this sounds?)

So, because you post here, you "OWE" me an explanation of why you quit your previous employer?

Look, LMB doesn't owe you any "honesty and sincerity" regarding his career choice. If he wants to move to Timbuktu and drive a lorry, that is HIS business. If he decides to post that on this forum, you have a right to read it. If you don't understand everything you read from him, is it smart to go trolling around and "outing" someone who didn't do something that YOU expected them to do? Why does he owe you any explanation of where he's working now, if he is even working now?

    Unfreakinbelievable. :biggrin_25513:

I can only imagine how the last few pages of this thread would read had the company been Swift rather than JCT.

And yes, I do know how you guys run. And I know how you are asked to run. And I know how people are treated when they refuse to run that way.

Yes, yes. I can read what it says on my wagon. But, I'm bringing in a reasonable amount of money. I don't have nearly the expenses some do. But I'm also not carrying the bags under my eyes around in a wheelbarrow. I can see the little lines on a roadmap and know they are really roads and not my own bloodshot eyes. I do not need a Screaming Meanie to wake up. In fact, I rarely need an alarm at all. My blood pressure is slightly below normal and I have the opportunity to shower at least every other day. The only reason my laundry stacks up is because simply put, I'm lazy.

Quite honestly, I am very happy for the O/P. Whether he chose to retire or drive a pumpkin, it's all the same to me. He will be happier and healthier either way.

Well, you still do not understand.

Read his post when he quit. Compare that to the rest of his posts. I was not the only one to notice it. Everything is going fine and BAM.

Again, compare to his normal style and attitude. Maybe "genuine" was not the right word.

I have a pretty good hunch it was him. Did not pull IP...dont need to. Does not really matter at all. Just read many posts wishing a happy retirement for a non-retirement.....seemed odd.

Im pretty sure. I cant document anything that does not involve me. Does anything really matter other than our own personal lives? I can answer all those questions if you "sincerely" want to know.:biggrin_2559:
About as ridiculous as your reply.

Where did I ever make this statement?

Once again, never said he "owed" me anything. I just stated I "like" those qualities.

I have a right to read his posts, and a right to disagree with his posts(see forum rules) I did not troll or "out" him. I read all posts on all threads and do so on other forums. Thats how I made this correlation you are ever so steamed about. Are you not "outing" me with your reply? Think about it.........

    :biggrin_25513:[/QUOTE]

Yes, it is unfreakinbelievable that you tore apart my post and made the mess of it that you did. I forgive you....and no I dont "owe" that to you, Im just sincere. :biggrin_25525:

Basically, for whatever its worth at this point(and please excuse me if I do not use the absolute proper vocabulary) it was a good thread and he took the time to explain every post he made. It appeared all was going well and then he was done...just like that. It did not fit his online posting style the way he left, but I guess I am not allowed to have that opinion. I have my theory on what happened and you have yours.

    This just in:

LMB was recently spotted in Afghanistan. Seems he took a job as a "spook" going undercover inside the Taliban.

    :biggrin_25522:

(I wish he'd be more open and honest about the real nature of his work with the CIA. Just seems odd that he wouldn't mention it on here)

    :biggrin_2559:

Seriously though...... who cares if LMB went to the pumpkin. Doesn't mean anything to me or anyone else here as I see it. The entire subject is pointless.

So, you're saying ALL JCT drivers run that way? And you've talked to a dispatcher at JCT who told you they push drivers to run illegally? Just curious where you got all that info.

I have run for plenty companies who did that. I've been beat up and had bloodshot eyes driving LEGALLY. I've been bribed, threatened, pushed, nudged, and ordered to keep moving to get that trailer there by x o'clock. And I've never driven for JCT.

They aren't the only ones doing it. They aren't the only ones ALLOWING drivers to do it even without their "suggestions". But tell ya what, running 3500+ miles in a week LEGALLY is entirely possible. I've done it. Did it when I put my foot down and decided I wasn't running rogue anymore. Plenty other drivers on this forum doing the same thing, plenty of them with e-logs.

Truck driving is not the healthiest of professions. Getting out of a SWIFT truck will make the driver happier and healthier, not just JCT. Some folks want to work hard and barely sleep (thats me), some want a leisurely stroll through life with less stress. Everyone has their preferences.

Swift is kewl. I don't think anyone here is bashing them. Not sure what you are trying to do with the above post.

A few pages back, someone tried to indicate my opinion is worthless based on the word written on my wagon. Which is just as ridiculous as claiming Babe Ruth excelled only because he played for the Yankees.

Any honest JCT driver will tell how it really is. There are some few on e-logs. There are others who not only willingly run "rogue" sometimes up to 5200 miles in a week, regularly 4500 and more. Tell me how that is done legally on a solo truck. Others, who run 3500 or fewer, are called "lazy" behind their backs. Where this information comes to me is just as confidential as why (no, the real reason) our O/P decided enough was enough.

Joey is right, though. Going through this thread, the O/P seemed happy and things seemed to be going rather well for him. Then he takes home time and abruptly throws in the towel. It was out of character and bound to raise a few questions. I am at a loss as to why this offends anyone, least of all, you, since you appear to have no dog in this hunt and apparently have no direct information about JCT. That, by the way, is an assumption on my part. Just as much so as anyone who would look at my signature area and think Swift is my only trip around the block and I have no other source of information about this industry and its players.

I will not "out" my sources of information on this company. Suffice it to say that I have been tempted on far more than one occasion to stop in Sapulpa and have more than strong words with some office staff.

Well, I have spoken, on a regular basis, with and driver from JCT in person and on the phone, never miss an opportunity to chew it up with JCT drivers when I see them, and have a post from LMB himself from another source where he says why he left. It's not because he was pissed at the company.

Odd though, the other JCT drivers I've spoken with tell me (face to face, mind you) that they run whatever they feel they can run. Some run less than 3000, some (including a friend of mine who works there) average in the low 3000's, his comfort level. He's never indicated to me that he has seen any hostility from the office either.
