How do you limit surge while up shifting and down shifting, going down hilll and all that good stuff

    Lol

Taking off you want to keep the liquid back , once you get it to the back the progress through the gears this will limit surge

Down shifting , down grade , same as above but reverse keep it forward until you are able to retain road speed again

Some times while going through the gears u will surge anyway until you get used to it ... In that case let the product hit and then shift on the up swing of the flow ...
But once you get used to it the top tip will work best

In REF to the endorsement test ?

If so 15 questions need to get 12 of 15 correct to pass but that may vary per state ..

What is it like hauling tankers compared to vans/reefers?? Is this a better business to get into over the flats??

    Tanks are specialized freight :

What I mean by that is most chemical plants need a operator who
    1. Knows the product
    2. Can unload it
    3. Knows the dangers
    4. Is trained on the procedures

It's a little harder to move a tank down the road cause 99% of chemical tanks are SMOOTH BORE and have NO BAFFLES
So the liquid flow is in transit is controlled by the driver 100%
The tanks with baffles are normally
    1. Food grade
    2. Gas

The freight flow for tanking is normally in more abundance than
Van- Reefer - Flat and the reason I say that is tanking is RAW MATERIAL which is used to create the product you put on the other 3 modes of transportation . There fore if tanks are slow it means production is down
And then the chain reaction .

    Now the RAIL FACTOR

Yes they have Tanker cars on the rail ..

Prob is this : it is 4 truck loads to a tank car and most facilities have enough storage room for prob 1 load a day maybe 2 so it's easier for trucking due to that and you can't transflow product at most rail facilities to a truck and where you can it's allot of $$$ to do it and the time factor is easier to go plant to plant

Then if they want to get a tank insight they must be near a rail or build a rail hub it's not as easy of a intermodal option as the other 3 modes of transportation either

    In short

    1. More freight ( cause of intermoadal )
    2. Less wait time ( mostly )
    3. More awareness in transport
    4. More product knowledge needed ( placards , etc )
    5. Be able to off load

    But pay is better :

    1. Deimurge after 2 ( mostly 13-20 per hr )
    2. Tank wash pay
    3 pump / air pay ( usually 20-40 per load )
    4. Resets on the road
    5. Layover ( rarely but your paid )
    6. Delays
    7. Product refusals
    8. Bunk ( some companies )
    9. Meals ( some companies )
    10. Supplies allowance ( tools , boots , etc )
    11 . Bonus ( up to 11%)
So with mileage pay as a

Company driver : with all above figured in I'd say avg
    0.42-0.49 all miles

IC : 1.47- 1.61 ALL miles with FSG
    But not counting
    1. Deimurge
    2. Layover
    3. Bonus
    4. Pump / Air
    5. Paid Tolls ( EZ pass / Pike pass ) ( most )
    6. Paid pre pass ( most )
    7. Fuel discounts ( 0.5 to 0.40 ) ( depends on carrier I get about 0.30 avg at Trimac )

With the above 6 listings add roughly

0.12 to you ALL miles total up to 0.15

    Hope this helps

Are there any tank companies that would take someone with no experience and train them? I have my cdl and endorsements, I just don't have any experience.
