w-9's have the most restrictive exhaust out of all the pre frankenstein exhaust systems---
i believe just getting rid of that monster muffler and even straights with resonators or such in the pipe would be a great advantage
but i would still go with the t-6----but thats just me--i like them
3406c 3.55 rears 15 speed...mpg?good motor?

I`ve owned both W900 and T600.Loved my W9s and wasn`t too worried about mpg.The T600 is a great truck.First one had an N-14 averaging above 6.2.Very good engines.Have an oldie now(1992) with a 3406B which averages 5.8-6.2. I am still partial to Cummins,as always, but I`ve stopped calling Cat boat anchors since I bought this truck. My opinion as long as its Kenworth you`ll like it.favored Thanks this.

Was considering buying my own rig i drove a Freightliner century class for around a year that had a 515 detroit with 13 speed gears i also like the 387 Pete and the T600 KW not sure about a volvo which would be the best value for money vehicle to buy right now?

Just bought a 95 kw w900l. 3.55 rear15sp 3406e 5ek with upgraded cam and turbo for higher hp its at 550hp but is ready to go to 600 plus with different injectors if I want. Guy was a mechanic I bought it from great shape..get 6.9 mpg right now. Pretty happy with it so far. Prob gonna add free flows and maybe try the fuel temp wire but well see. Really don't want to mess with it too much right now as it runs good. Nice to get out the Freightliner....neeever again.

i have a peterbilt with a 3406c in it it has no electronic throttle just the linkage from the pedal to the throttle lever only electric on the pump is the kill solinoid and engine brake switch and thats all and for the running part all you got to do is turn a few screws

I did not know that C engines used GAS
-
Dave, you are actually not right. As another poster mentioned there were a series that ran electronic controls on what was basically a mechanical pump. These were the PEEC engines. They were available in the late 80's as B models, and were also later available as C models. Most C models were mechanical, unless it was a PEEC, and then it had electronic controls. Many of these peec engines were converted back to manual (by their owners) because they were not reliable and could get expensive to fix. I still have one in a truck to this day. Runs good, decent mileage, and about to turn 2mill miles.
