They spec 53's because they are lazy and don't know their freight.
So they just spec the biggest.....
that way they are never wrong, from their side of the fence. -
That sounds like a nice little turn right there. I won't ask you publicly what the hell you are finding out of Montana that pays anything because I know that is a closely guarded secret. I got a feeling I know what you are doing for return loads though.
I'm glad you found something interesting like that. I half figured that you would tell me that you found a regular deal going to Alaska and back.

What is this California place you speak of? Some of us haven't been there for years, and have no plans on ever going back.
Plenty of work out there that has nothing to do with those nazis. Let them starve for a while and see if things don't change. -
It's a combination of that and also that they don't want their loaders to have to think.
All of the large "mega-shippers" have loading procedures in place and load every trailer the same way. If they were to load 48 spreads, they would have to load them differently. Heaven forbid a forklift driver have to use their brain.
It's just another modern example of micro-management at it's finest. -
Don't you mean dumbing down for the masses?
From what I have read here. Loaders have no clue how to load a trailer of any size. Not that I have any either, I load and unload flat's all day.
I couldn't load a box if you trained me to. -
Im gonna turn a round to Alaska about the end of August, so If ya stumble upon any loads going up, even flatbed LTL, give me a call. Much obliged. A spread axle reefer is the most useless trailer for running through SK, AB, and BC, but its all I got, so its going.

Can't you just retrofit those old refer units with a DPF?
I was at Utility in Fontuckey last week and they were selling them for $5K.....Lot cheaper than the retrofit for a truck engine of $25K....
