Hello, First time with a spit axle flatbed trailer. Should I be dumping the air out of the rear axle when I'm empty and driving around town or on the highway? I know I need to when making tight turns but what about normal driving when empty? I'm reluctant to do it because it seems to me that the axle would start bouncing or something at higher speeds. Or am I over thinking this. Thanks for your help.

only if you want to buy tires every week. dump it only when turning . loaded. dumping the axle when empty will flat spot a set of tires in no time.

If you drive trailer with tag axe, I'd not do it every time I turn, it damges tire thread more....

But if you have lift axe, I'd recomend you driving emty with risen axe.

I have spread axle flats & steps, should I have dump valves? Will this help or hurt tire wear?

I don't see how it would, it takes the weight off the axle, the tire then slides with no weight on it rather than having weight on it which would cause it to flat spot easier.

um........sliding tire = flat spots. If there's no weight on the axle the brakes will lock up so unless you have one of these valves on your brakes to kill them when the suspension is dumped then no you don't want it dumped when empty.

Only time I know of dumping your air bag suspension is to keep truck from bouncing so much when making love to your significant other.

then drive down the road empty with the back axle dumped and see what happens when you go to stop and then let me know.
