My experience as of June 8th getting rehired to do the dollar general account. You get paid $141 and some change for training. The first day is mainly getting your application in order or waiting for other people to get theres in order you will watch videos. They hold you in a room like prisoners till you see the doc and take a drug test. The first day is about 8 to 5.(75/9=$8.33hr) The next day you on your way it last from 8 to 4(75/8=$9.37hr). You really only need the second day because it contains all the pertinent information you will need to use the Qualcom ect ect. Your supposed to get your truck on the third day in my case June 10 but werner Dallas Doesn't have truck to assign so they take you in van to go get new peterbuilts from peterbuilt in denton for $40. This run takes about 4-5 hrs(thats a whopping $10hr). I was told I was the first driver to complain about this.Makes me wonder about the drivers that are currently working there.:biggrin_2552:So you make these runs until they get you a truck. Werner lot probably has 80-100 new trucks on the lot.

They gave me a truck that was really bad. It was so bad I would have had to give up whats left of my dignity to drive it.I've driven over a million miles so theres not much left, but you should have seen this truck. When I told them I couldn't drive it in that condition, I was told I'd be put on the bottom of the list and to show up sat to wait for a truck again. When I went in sat they said no trucks will be assigned today, so I gave them my badge and went home.I'd rather work for a company that treats drivers with some courtesy and respect. A little preemptive strike on my part but, who knows being ### whipped might be part of what I have to do to train my wife.

I just couldn't have any more $40 days and will be taking a run for the owner op I was working for pre-werner on Monday. The only reason for going to werner was so I could train my wife and run team. This is just how werner operates and just wanted to share a recent experience.

Sorry it didn't work out for you. What was wrong with the truck they assigned you? It's been almost 10 yrs since I was at the Dallas terminal. Are the offices still across the street from the main terminal? Does the truck stop directly to the east have the lizards roosting on the scale?
During my week there there was a driver who did a dedicated route for Pamida who was called into Dallas to have his truck unassigned from him so it could be sold and he sat for an entire week waiting on a different truck.

There was a sticky film of smoke covering the truck and a serious skid mark on the drivers seat and the smell was intolerable. They defiantly rode team on the truck and smoked with the widows up.
It was more the attitude when I wanted it made decent that I realized I was in a rookie training ground. People that haven't ever experienced a good trucking company, don't know any better and take Werner's crap. Offices are still across the street. ###### were lower key than years past, they cleaned the area up after a student driver got stabbed and killed going to the hotel from the terminal.(should have took the van).

Yeah, I don't blame you for skidding(pardon the pun) on passed that truck. Too bad it took somebody getting killed to get that area cleaned up. Best of luck.

I also turn down Werner, waited 1 1/2 days for a trainer and when he was in town,he called me to let me know he was on his way.Well make a long story short, this trainer had such a bad attitude he didn't tell me his name!:biggrin_25513:So after that I told him have a nice day and walk in the office and told them I an't driving for this crap company.I'm so glade I walk away.

A experienced driver going to Werner is like a ASE certified mechanic going to work at Mc Donalds ,

Werner is a training company , that is what you got to expect from them . They are bottom of the barrel ..

I find it sad that this purported 'Million Mile Driver' hasn't risen any further than Werner.

First sentence says "rehired". Didn't learn the first time?

Hey supertruckers, I only went back to get my wife through training. If you have a good Idea on how to do this not working for a crappy training company, Id love to know how. I've played in the o/o game and the LTL game. I'm on to sell the farm. Team for three years and finish up my bachelors degree.

And yes any million miler at werner is a bit pathetic.

Why is it pathetic? Don't knock a person for being happy and/or content at Werner. One person's nightmare is another person's ideal situation.
