You mean you need told the difference in price and overall performance between.Cobra builds a superior chassis radio, aftermarket
bolt on increases the performance as well as the"quality"
Bottomline: Superior performance for LESS MONEY!
-
A after market add on like the RFX75 will have no effect on the quailty of any radio other than to give you more output power .....
Power is not everything you have to look at IMD, heat and just how clean it is over a wide frequency range a dirty radio will look GREAT on a watt meter since the meter will measure all the outputs and add them up ..... -
Exactly, even with minimal variances the modded Cobra will out perform that
offering from magnum.
If the roger bleep is what draws the sales then thats self explanatory.
Again,its Trucking . . . . . . -
I happen to like Cobra radios and I'm not a fan of Magnum ... That said Roger beeps are rarely used outside of moon walks and CB ... The reason for them was to tell someone when you ended your transmission a good thing when your in a space suit on the moon ...
Early ( like 40 years ago ) some HAM repeaters used them but as the radios got better they faided away ...... -
the "new breed" are drawn to beeps and colored face plates
The last thing that would interest them would be stability and proven longevity
for their money spent.
The "good buddy beep" is worn out "out here". -
I see that Sparky's is now selling the Raptor. Now yup can buy one since just loves Magnum's RFX-75's.

Yep the RXF-75 with 20 watts REAL output and 75 watts PEP Look up the output transistors spects...... BUT PEP used to be used for only SSB .... until the crooked CB shops saw a way to make up big numbers on already over inflated Power meters .....
You can buy a good amp with many times that for $100outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
Not likely,I do like tricked out(modded) stuff
The modded Cobra's are niche items I'm glad I bought
Leaving things stock is not how I roll.

Well guys I just bought a Magnum Raptor 10 meter radio and its Kicks butt. It was converted to 11 Meter Band and tweaked and Peaked to work with my
Palomar 450HD. It cost me $200 online and $50 to have a person to set it up. So $250 for a awesome radio.
I like the builtin Echo. The Builtin Roger beep you can turn off or on is kinda lame but its no big deal.
I see some of you dont like it but with 240 channels and It kicks butt!
It has the CB band on channel "D" the channels go from A thru F
It has a cpu in it and ways to get the radio to kick butt if you reprogram it.
The only thing I dont like about it is the cyan display. It is too bright. It needs a dimmer.
You can reprogram the display to show the Frequency of the channel
or you can plug in a Frequency Counter in the back of the radio.
IMHO if you get somebody that knows how to reprogram the CPU and setup this Magnum Raptor correctly it will kick Butt
I am really happy with it!!
Hope this helpsLast edited: Sep 25, 2011
