15 seems low but is that where it usually ran?
How many miles? Could need the overhead run.
MPG stable? Again overhead.
New smoke? Weak turbo, bad CAC collapsed hose??
Kinda hard to diagnose without a little more info, but those would be my starting points. -
thank you for your reply..yes it does seem to be smoking a little more than before..engine has 473,000 miles on it..truck was bought last august so l do not know the history of the maintenance as l am just the driver
-
473,000 on an old Cat I would bet lunch it needs the overhead run.
That would account for low manifold pressure with valves slightly out, smoke is incomplete burn because of exhaust valves most likely. Not a huge job if you can get them to do it(afternoon if you just do it).
Watch your pyro if you have one because it could still be a leak in the intake side. -
Have you checked the air filters? Start with the simple stuff first.
Tazz Thanks this. -
Yeah what he said. We change ours so often I forget. Just to many dusty customers to worry over a cheap air filter so we do 50,000 on ours.

If I had engine s/n I could get accurate info.

What is mean by "needs an overhead"?
Thank you,
Toby -
It means adjusting the valves basically.stinerspecialtransport Thanks this. -
Thanks, TAZ!!
