Congratulations! You're on your way and your attitude will take you where you choose to go.

Always follow the advice that others just gave you on the unmarked overpass, slow down, turn on flashers and ease under it. Over the years, twice I have had to back out and make a new plan.

I hope many others read this. In this soft economy many are entering trucking to make a better way for their families. Most have no idea what they are getting into. Because of the economy, a grown family and my love of trucking, I am getting back in. But I love the lifestyle and it is a lifestyle not a job. There is so much besides driving and many sacrifices from a family standpoint.

Keep us updated on your progress. Best of luck in your new profession.

When I'm having a bad day and just wish I were home I think back to last year when I was unemployed and applying for jobs. outside of this industry nobody is hiring. Being a little lonely on the road is a whole lot better than having your house forclosed on. But that "lonely" feeling isn't all bad, because It's also really nice to just be able to do your job without having some manager ask you 100 times a day what your currently doing.

I couldn't agree more. That freedom is what appeals to me the most. A bad day in a truck beats a good day in an office any day of the year. When things seem bad, most of can easily reflect on worse situations if we choose to put a positive spin on it.

I was told ALL low bridges were marked.:biggrin_2559: Well they all are by the SCRAPE marks from trailers that did not quite make it under

That's a fact. The "low clearance" capital of the world.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the advice and words of encouragement. I've been through Chicago a few times but only on Rt94 and Rt80, I'll be sure to look for the low clearance signs (or lack of signs, Lol)
