    Refuse to pull a trailer with bad brakes. Perfectly OK. Abandoning the tractor, gathering up all your toys and running home to momma, just plain stupid. The problem here isn't the company. It's you. To bad you missed McDonalds national hiring day cause there about the only one who might hire you.

    screw mcleod, trucking sucks anyway, get a real local job that dosen't have anything to do with trucking. you'll be better off.

    Show me where I agreed to be manipulated and conned like that. Show me where I signed an agreement, stating that I would haul faulty equipment. Show me where I broke my word.

    From what I see here so far, it certainly would seem that there are more company shills than truckers in here.

    its really stupid to take out equipment that you know is faulty--just refuse to pull it--might not go over to good might get fired--but if you can prove the trailer is not road worthy--a pic and description given to dot would be icing on the cake
    the days of sober or drunk i will haul your junk are long gone--the liability just isnt worth it

    I dont want to argue..but,you are saying you are a "real" trucker?..God help us.
    From looking at your posts this is at least the 3rd company that you have pulled this... "faulty"equipment..i quit!!..(after a couple weeks) stunt at.

    Even after the offered to have it repaired you quit, abandoned their truck and walked.

    Shame on you.(period)
    I have nothing further to say on this thread..except..Grow up!!..Sometimes(after3times) its not Always someone else' fault...sometimes..just sometimes it is your finding a reason and a fault of something looking for a reason to quit(again)..and abandon a truck and quit and call a taxi/bus/..or Mommy and go home.

    the key is---how do you know it is faulty? if it is out right broken --yes-- too many people dont like pulling or driving anything that has a few miles on it--you see people complaining that there truck is old and worn out cause its got 500 000 on it
    you cant expect every single piece of equipment to be brand new and in pristine shape--wear does happen

    Might be their truck and their fuel but it's my AS* on the line, if I have a wreck and hurt or kill someone. I don't think you're a driver at all, just from this statement, right here.

    Tellya what... next time you're near gross, pick a place late at night when you're all alone on some interstate. Shouldn't be hard. Then, a little research. Hammer the brakes, and leave the pedal down. You'll find out... Then imagine the same scenario, with bad brakes.

    Until then I'll tell you - you don't have enough brakes to stop that truck quickly at gross, even when things work as they should.

    IF a "real trucker" is a slobbering moron who has no sense of doing what's good for him; someone so callous as to drive junk that is going to cause a wreck; someone who does not realize the real and imminent penalties for hurting or killing someone while driving junk that will not pass the PTI, then I am not a "real trucker"... and I never will be.

    I flatly accuse you of being a company shill. It's so obvious that's really not necessary...

    Your right your not a real trucker, beacause a real trucker would get the repairs done and continue doing their job, and not abondoning equipment... Maybe you should stop accusing evryone else as non-drivers and look in the mirror.

    That's why you don't tailgate. Duh.

    For the record, I hauled grocery for nearly two years. Food is almost always heavy. My average freight weight was 42K. Yes, a few times, I hauled trailers with out-of-adjustment brakes. On I-44 in Missouri. In January with ice all over the road. Straight into the terminal for a brake adjustment. If you know what you're doing, there is absolutely no reason to stab your brakes anyway. I track my "hard brake" events. In the last three years, I've had.....one.

    Now. Regarding experience level. I have over 4 years and over 500K miles under my wheels. In that time, I've learned to be a truck driver. Not quite to the level of Trucker, yet...but working on it. Yesterday, I picked up a trailer with a broken service brake air line. If it were you, you would have left the trailer at the shipper, thrown a temper tantrum, cleaned your truck out, go home and then come on these boards looking for sympathy and atta-boys. Me? I cut the ends square, pushed them into an air line butt connector and drove it to the terminal for a permanent repair. It took me two minutes to connect that line back up. You would have been sitting there on the phone insisting they send a service truck out.

    I do not count the total number of years I've had a CDL (10 years) as experience. Nor do I count the total number of years I've been moving large vehicles (14) ....rather, I count the years I've had both a CDL and been driving tractor-trailer combinations steadily as my primary job. You may have had your CDL for four years, but from your posts here, it appears you have less than three months total experience. Who's the wannabe rookie prima donna, eh?
