Come lay in the grass in Missouri and you might prefer the trailer tires. You guys out east don't seem to have any biters.

    HA!!! :biggrin_2559:

Reminds me of Northern Minnesota. When I was a Marine Reservist back in the 80's, we did a MCCRES (Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation System) at Camp Ripley in northern MN. It was August, was cold at night, hot during the day. At night, the mosquitoes would put on their flight jackets, and come out to feed. Woke up MANY a morning with swollen eyelids, swollen lips, and that burning sensation from all those stings.

    :biggrin_2555:

Between the flying vermin and the freakin Walking Sticks that got into EVERYthing, I wondered why anyone would want to live there.

I am also very thorough. As a new Driver maybe I am too cautious but I have heard many stories like yours. One of my fellow Drivers told me that there were incidents at my (secure) terminal where someone had pulled the fifth wheel release on a couple of occasions, so I give my hookup a quick visual inspection and a quick tug test before pulling out. Sad when your own coworkers can do this kind of crap.

Sleeping in the woods is one thing, here you take a few steps in the nice mowed grass of your own front yard and you end up with open, pus oozing sores on your legs for the next two weeks. Anywhere outside a major city.

I've been out wading around in the tall grass in most other states. Nowhere else have those blood thirsty little demons feasted on me like they do in Mo. Though I haven't been out in the grass in Florida, I'll give you that. I'm not getting anywhere near anything an alligator might be hiding under.
