Wow, that's been going on for quite awhile. I was always under the impression Toronto didn't want them because of all the congestion on the 401, and others. Myself, I think they'd be better off with out them there as well, judging by the quality of certain drivers, and you can bet, those would be the ones dragging them. If ya catch my drift.
I would have replied sooner, but had to run around a little.

As stated above, they use a double drawbar system, rather than the pintle and clevice. They're more stable than the A-dollies, and eliminate a pivot point with each trailer.
-
Actually.........C-train dollies have 2 pintle hooks at least the ones I drug around. Design may vary w/ region.
johnday Thanks this. -
I've seen both systems, unless there's another designation for the ones which use a drawbar. Either way, they would seem a much better choice than the short A-dollies with the 27' pups.
-
There ya go. The only draw back I noticed was when you had to move them around by hand. Specially the tandem axle dollies. Not popular around here. T/T, B trains and 8 axle semis are the normal for road trucks.

This turned into an information highway thread, I have learned a lot here. A lot of these drivers are some of the best on the road. I just wish we had a video of some of these guys backing there equipment.

Here's a guy. Just do a query on about any type of driving.
