Hey guys I am attending a school for truck driving and would like some feedback on driving as a team vs solo driving. I like the idea of team driving, preferably with a veteran driver who wants to teach a new guy the ropes while team driving, not have to. It also seems safer to team drive (less time at truck stops) and more productive.
team trucking vs solo

I did it and soon found out its just not for me. Hard to sleep while the truck is moving. A semi does not ride smoothly! Also, it just never seemed like I got a break.
The Challenger, Urban_Hillbilly81 and truckintime Thank this. -
personally i couldn't live with someone else in that small of a space for weeks at a time, i don't think i could even do that with the ole lady let alone another guy

any happy team drivers? other then the obvious wife husband team

Team Driving is hard due to the fact you dont get quality sleep when the truck is moving. I was dead tired after 8 hours of laying on the bed, while my co was driving. Then I had to do my share of driving.

As a woman I would like to team drive because it would seem a bit easier for me. Not because I am afraid of hard work. I have always had a job that kept me running. I am strong enough to be capable of doing the necessary things we do day to day. I am new and awaiting a new trainer. I have chosen to team with a guy I went thru school with. I am a little nervous about it cause the guy took forever to learn how to drive. He has already finished his training and is solo now. We are going to hook up when I am finished. I have heard that you get better equipment and runs if you go team. In my training I did learn to sleep in a moving truck. Didn't think it would be possible but I was tired enough to do it.

Thanks for the feedback from everyone, i hadn't thought about sleeping problems in the truck. another question is do strangers often pair up to team drive? like company co-workers?
-
if youre already worried about this guy you might not want to team with him... -
I have one thought about team to share. If you can get past the many obvious drawbacks or even love the companionship. If you can accept the fact that most companies and modern day operations are not well suited to team operation. If you understand that most team operations only make the company extra money, although there are a few exceptions.
Here it comes........................Are you willing to put your life in someone else's hands and die in your sleep? Everyone of you, myself included has seen repeatedly the stunts that some will pull. How many people will you ride with and sleep. I'm 54 and I have 5 people that I will sleep with while they are driving a four-wheeler. Three are family members. And of those five, only three would make truck drivers I would sleep behind and yes one is a woman. Now I know I am picky, but think about it, there are no do-overs!truckintime, The Challenger and chompi Thank this. -
