Mind your own business is a BS concept for cowards.
Example: I'm sitting at the truckstop, you're inside eating, and someone whacks your truck. I could (a) mind my own business, and when you come out, see the damage, and see my reading a book, you ask "who did that??"... I'd say "Dunno"... or (b) take down the company info on the truck and trailer that hit you, grab a quick photo, call the cops, get a report started.... and when you come out, hand you in the info so YOU don't have to pay for the damage.
That's what people do for each other - that's what I'd like someone to do for me in the same scenario.
Thank God for the testicles he gave me. It's saved me, and some acquaintances, many a heartache and many a dollar.
What is acceptable when working as a otr company driver

Acceptable, but the rest of my post is very much valid.
This new breed of busy bodies out to change the trucking world is so far removed from reality it is sickening. (you can find them back up thru this thread)
Taking minor issues to heart, like a minor incident with fleet equipment
is wrong,from every angle WRONG!
Fleet equipment is subject to whiskey dents on a regular basis, you pick a dented trailer, yet have no issues dragging it off and completing the run correct ?
Same applies,no real damage so why rally the troops? You going to sit and cry to dispatch and the local LEO's cause your assigned trailer is dented ?
Why call condemnation in on something you yourself will likely face in the near future ?You bump a wagon does it automatically qualify you to be labeled as your self opinionated, self righteous peers have described earlier in this thread ?
You folks need to get a grip on reality . . . . .
Respectfully,
A CowardWargames Thanks this. -
a mere zit on a nat's *** in real world percentages

You might BS the TRR crew, but pushed against the stats your just another TS Lawyer.
REMEMBER the reason you are now driving a truck?
No!!,The REAL REASON!! . . . . . best get a grip you ain't foolin nobody
with any of this.
-
The real reason? I need additional income and I like it.
Of course I'd pull a dented trailer, have done it all the time. If it looks fresh or big and significant, I'll report it to make sure I'm not blamed for it.
If you'll read my post, instead of just getting your feelers hurt, you'll see that I'm talking about an accident when the driver wasn't around, and what I'd do to help. Wasn't talking about picking up dinged up equipment. -
I'm sorry but if the OLD BREED is to #### lazy to get out of the #### truck to ensure they don't hit crap or to arrogant to get out and see how much damage they did do they need to go home.
Signed the new breed -
By the way in the incident we are talking about OLD BREED hit one trailer sliding it into the trailer I was inspecting which could have injured me....some drivers lack of give a crap is sickening.

I do believe that this post deserves an award for being "Dumber than dog dirt!"
There is a difference between minding your own business, and turning in some jerk wad that pulls a hit and run. And if you can't see that, then there really is no hope of you and I communicating.
So go ahead and call me a hypocrite with a mental illness. I don't really give a right rip. -
IMHO, there is a time for both concepts. Good judgement rules.
A hit and run, without regard for life or property, does not warrant a mind your own business response.
The exact same situation that Cubsdad experienced with a driver who gets out concerned for your well being may. Company equipment, conscientious driver equal no harm no foul. As long as it was an honest mistake and you don't get blamed, why cause trouble for someone else. Let reporting it be his responsibility.
If you are an arrogant jerk with no regard for the property or life of others, a commercial vehicle is not where you belong!ronin Thanks this. -
That is an older person that is one in a huge percentage
of the latest run school grads.
You will generally find this type bellied up in a restaurant "Pro Driver" section.
Old school hands wouldn't think of putting themselves any where
near such "class".
Many old school hands like myself will give helpful suggestions to those that are struggling, generally its something as simple as asking them if
they would like me to do it for them
Its amazing how simple things solve the biggest problems

Careful with the OLD BREED quote.
