Abrasive is good from time to time. I just hated it when drivers kept calling and waking me up. I need a good nap sometimes throughout the day

quallcom mcp-200 e-logs unit, who ever installed these units did a crappy job, just got into a trk with this unit. 1st thing the voice is garbled and full of static to the point you cant understand it, 2nd unit has to completely restart every time trk is started, 3rd the unit wants to go into sleep mode after 30 to 45 minutes of. initial start up . The unit does give you a warning prompt that lasts for 10 seconds , so you have to be quick to keep unit on so you can send and or recieve messeges.

So is anybody else got a unit that acts like this one ? As far as e-logs , it wasnt to bad to use after playing around and getting use to the different functions. I wish the unit would show on the main screen while you are driving your HOS summary page,
like the trk pc unit. all said it was ok but seems like more work, as I have to keep a paper log also doe to the fact Im on the hometime fleet and one trk is e-logs and the other trk is trk pc but no e-logs.

Im hopeing rohel can solve the speech and the rebooting issues, and turn on the navigation and the in trk scanning. That would be a big help !

The last I heard those functions cost too much money, and wouldn't be available for awhile. They won't do anything to make life better for you, only things that will make more money for them.

yea mine tends to give errors here and there, forcing it to reboot even when driving (happened 2 or 3 times in 6 months) the error popup is not in English so i have no clue what it is lol.. Yea they sold me on the in cab scanner that "would be turned on soon" that was December.. shoulda known better and wouldn't have gotten it put in my truck..

There should be a control panel mounted on your truck's dashboard separate from the Qualcomm. This panel has volume control knobs, that'll silence that voice. All you will hear is a chirp when you get a message.

    2) It's normal. The unit needs to reset itself with the truck parameters for calibration purposes. It needs to keep track of idling time for fuel burn caculations.

    3) This is done so that the unit doesn't draw access juice from the batteries. Keep the engine running and the unit should stay on.

thanks for the suggestions, the volume is on the unit and is adjustable, as for keeping the engine on, thats not a option at team roehl. So are other roehl drivers filling out the load info for every new dispatch in the hos section under the load tab?

I thought about blowing it off since there was no formal training or instuctions and claiming that I didnt no any better, but went ahead and put in the info it asked for
attempting to be a team player ! LOLS

as for the extras not coming on-line im not surprised, the only reason these units are even in the trks is to start the process of being in compliance with the goverment.
Also to save money going paperless, no more log books or at least only when the unit screws up.

Speaking of costing too much money..You'll love this one.

They did away with the free coffee in Gary. It cost too much.:biggrin_25523:
I heard they are only allowed to make 1 pot a day, and only grind 1 bean for it.
