In a bunkroom at Springfield, headed to the meeting in the morning for the free breakfast, and then it's off to Ontario, CA for Monday. Usually a load reserved for teams, but I got my dispatcher get me one out of lineup. Wanted to run out west at least one time while I had my girlfriend on the truck.

I went through Prime's training program nine years ago and have never regretted it. They train you from the ground up. Lots of information on this forum for you. Several folks on this thread have been through this program recently or are in it now. Have a look. Better than shelling out $4k or more! Call Prime and talk to recruiter. They will give you all the details.

Ya know what? I went to a good third party school, and shelled out the money for a CDL. Came to Prime for finishing my training as a C-seat. Now don't get me wrong... the school I went to did a good job - but all they do is give you the basics and enough experience to pass the CDL driving exam. My impression is that you are a lot further along when you finish CDL instruction through the PSD program.
After having getting my CDL from a driving school - if I were to do it again, coming to Prime for the whole shebang - CDL instruction and trianing would be my choice. -
Having just got my CDL yesterday lol I feel semi qualified to talk about the program lol. As of may 16th I had never been in a big rig.... now after 4 weeks of being with an instructor, I can safely operate one. During the PSD phase you learn one on one out on the road. You learn hands on in the real world. That is a big difference from a glorified parking lot. I went through stand still traffic, 2 lane roads, storms, mountains, deserts, crowded truck stops..... all while fully loaded. also did some with light loads n dead heading. Goin through prime you also see the lifestyle. Being on the road 4 straight weeks is definitely not a normal job. This is a life style, not a job.
