I just graduated from driving school. We had a HOW recruiter speak to us, and of course made it sound great. BUT...what's the latest out there. New trucks now? How are the miles?

Any recent info on H.O Wolding? Starting school next Monday the 12th & I'm looking for any info anyone might have about them, especially from HOW drivers.

They just recently went up on start out pay (.30/mile). They'll run ya as hard as you let em but in doing so you'll set sometimes (for awhile). Alot seems to depend on which dispatcher you get. You start out in a Million+ mile truck with opti-idle and then you get graded on idle time, gas mileage etc. 64mph trucks except when going down hill
, then DO NOT LET HER GO PAST 75 AND ONLY PAST 70 FOR A FEW SECONDS. They gradullay work you into A 600K to 800K truck after a couple years. It'll take 12-14+ years to get a new truck. They service their trucks fairly good. Gotta go all the way to Amherst WI for servicing. They have a good mix of junk and nice equip. Detention pay etc is just pure bologna half the time. Their "log auditing" dept is hillarious. To them its all about what Qual-comm say's and thats that. But in the grand scheme of things in "trucking" and whats out there, their in the upper 1/2 so go figure. In todays world....Its a job so be thankful.
Iceman1984 Thanks this. -
Broadhead, I appreciate your reply. Many thanks.

Disappointed...they just came to my school...Hamrick in Medina, Oh. I was thinking of going with them...the presentation was so good

Of course, this is the type of "quality" driver Patrick is...
I am governed at 63. The other truck was doing 62. During my slow crawl around him a 3rd truck came upon us. After I had finished passing the truck and moved back over the truck that had come upon us, passed me and proceeded to flip me off. I just smiled and waved. Then I chided him over the CB to not be mad. I don't set my governor. I actiallly get a small amount of satisfaction when I annoy the living heck out of someone because I made them slow down.

I wouldn't say you know nothing... probably something less.metallifreak10 and plankton Thank this. -
I figured I would update this. I drive for H. O. Wolding. I have been driving for them for 8 months.
Equipment. Newbies start in an older truck 3-5 years old 400k - 500k miles on it. You are in it until it either breaks down or gets sold off. Then on to newer trucks. ALL of their trucks have Pre Oilers and Auto Lube systems. Almost all of there trucks have OnGuard crash avoidance systems. They do an excellent job of maintaining their trucks. Every time I have been in to get something fixed, they start fixing anything else they see.
Pay. Newbies start out at 32 cpm. 1yr experience 37 cpm. 2yrs experience 38 cpm. Every year after of experience is 1/2 cent per mile raise up to the 10 years of experience mark.
Trucks are governed at 63 mph, do not go over 68 mph for more than a couple mins, do not go over 72 mph for more than a few seconds and definitely don't go over 75 mph.
I have had no issues sitting. I have had a few repairs that were needed. I have no issues averaging 2,500 miles a week.
Wolding is a great company to work for. But then again this is truckers report, just like glass door most people are here to whine because they failed as an individual. -
32 cents a mile? Wow.
