Two cases of ice cream. There were some very happy truck stop waitresses and cashiers that day.

I had 450 lbs of chicken rejected cuz the slaughter date was one day older than what was specified on the bills. My neighbors got their freezers full and the rest went to a mom & pop restaurant in town.

All this talk about Girl Scout coookies. Had to go get a carton of milk and break out the last part of my stash.

I've received several nice T-shirts from one place, and fifty bucks from another. The cash was from a place in the Miami area where they screwed up loading me. Got halfway done and had to take it all off...forgot some labels. I was stuck there all night. Next day they got it right and the owner gave me the money.

    Both those happened oh-so-many-years-ago.

One time I picked up a load of envelopes in Chicago and was halfway to the destination in Omaha, and I get a phone call from our customer service guy saying the shipper is about 99% sure he set his cell phone down on top of the freight in the trailer.
So when I got to the receiver, I told them not to enter the trailer with the forklift until I got in by the dock, and told them there's a cell phone in there somewhere. Every time he pulled out a pallet, I got down on my knees with my flashlight looking under/inside and between the skids until I found it, about halfway down.
When I got empty, I ended up dropping the trailer at a truck stop and bobtailed to this small-town post office in Iowa later that day and overnighted the phone back to the shipper.
My company reimbursed for the shipping and a few weeks later I was back at that same envelope place in Chicago. I recognized the forklift guy, and after he was done loading the truck, just to kind of tease him I shined my flashlight in over the load and he said "looking for something?" I said "yeah, I'm just making sure you didn't leave your cell phone in there". He laughed, said "oh that was you?"
He gave me $40. I tried to decline, but he wouldn't shut up til I accepted it.

When I first started I got two cases of Vienna sausages. I still won't eat them today after that. They were coming out my ears. I was like Bubba and his shrimp recipes on Forest Gump. Vienna's and crackers, Vienna's and beans, Vienna sandwiches....

I use to haul LaZboy furniture regularly. They let the employees buy factory blemished stuff cheap. They let me buy a nice recliner for $100. I couldn't find anything wrong with it. I still have it.

About five years ago I got three cases of top of the line styrofoam cafeteria style plates. I gave two to Pilot employees and kept one. I used the last one about a month ago.

Last year and I got a case of 5 whole beef tenderloins. I cut one up and stuffed it in my truck freezer. I stopped at our old terminal in Gulfport, MS and traded one for some future shrimp. The dock guy dealt in them on the side, lol. They closed that terminal and that guy got laid off. I never got my shrimp. The other 3 I gave to some Pilot employees.

My best one was 84 chickens because of blood dripping on boxes because of 1 chicken leaking. I called the local food pantry and the lady said they hardly ever get any meat. Just so happened she had 84 regulars. :)
