first the good; he wasn't lazy, he wanted us to keep going and was glad that I don't mind driving and don't get lost. he got me my hours (148 which now has me sitting and typing this from the comfort of home.
he actually unloaded the truck at most stops and didn't just tell me it's my job to unload. he did have a few pointers to help me through my day.
now the bad; he was pretty sloppy, both in apearance and the truck was full of garbage half the time. doing dollar general you don't get all that dirty, sweaty yeah, but not dirty. my trainer looked like he rolled around on the trailer floor to achieve that "pig pen" look. he slept pretty hard at times and I had to wake him up if I missed a turn (georgia state road marking system leaves alot to be desired) the last trip into GA he navigated me onto a road and said it was the one I needed. according to the Q directions I was to go to the first light and turn right at the best buy DC. I get there no DC in sight? I woke him up to ask if this was the right road? he said "is this exit 49?" I said "I have no idea, we came in on the state road" I should have just navigated myself.
he has more road rage then anyone I know, he's thinking of a different career and giving up driving I encouraged him all I could.
he also drove VERY aggresively, tailgating, cutting people off when ever he could, he didn't give a rip who he pissed off, I'm surprised we didn't get shot at down in west palm beach. at 26 years of age I guess you have to expect some angst eh?
now a couple comments about my werner trainer

Doesnt sound too bad compared to most of the stories Ive read about driver trainers. You said he wasnt lazy and thats good. Sounds like his driving habits were the worst part of it...
Good luck! -
A $1000 truck GPS seems critical. If signs are half as poor as they are in FL, good grief. I know how many times my 4 wheel turns around when on unfamiliar roads in the city without signs. They couldn't have been designed any better, if making people turn around was their goal. It must be illegal aliens getting back at us for something, in all the FL State and County highway dept jobs. -
I'm wondering if I made a mistake getting out of the truck, he might be one of the better trainers Werner has. -
the edge of a cliff or road?? wow

I'm confused.....your profile info says you've been a trucker for 2 years, yet you're in training with werner? huh?
