Not stolen. Just cheap junk. They used to show fake invoices in FL. Say they got extra when they loaded in Miami. I called the cops and they went and talked with them once. They would hit people in the drive through at the bank on Friday$

I was approached with the same scam today around 14:30 at the pilot in Nitro West Virginia. Some guy had supposedly won the lottery and was being congratulated by a small group of guys. I was about to offer my congratulations and then I saw that along with a large stack of hundred dollar bills, he was sitting amidst a 3-card-monte setup on the ground of the parking lot. Two of the men honed in on me and said this guy was giving money away and I should play. I knew right away that it was a scam! I got the hell away from them making sure that my pockets hadn't been picked and that the back of my trailer hadn't been tampered with. I then noticed another guy roaming the front of the lot on his cell phone whom I suspected was some lookout guy when he, the lottery winner and two other guys from the crowd made way for a mini van parked at the building next door and took off.
That's the first time I've ever seen that kind of thing. Sign of the times I guess? -
I had a friend "no not me" that was in a rest are in NC and was approached by a man that had a lap top he was sellling said that he would let the man have one for $100 that he had new ones in the trunk of his car in the box they went over and he bought one. As he traveled down the road he opened it to see his prize it was wrapped in Best Buy shrink wrap. when he got it opened it was full of news papers needless to say they all went out the window. Remember folks "IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBALY IS"

Negro hobbling around on a crutch, saying he was blown up in Iraq and the VA wouldn't help him, blah blah blah, even showed me his VA medical benefits card (I was there for two years and this guy couldn't even answer the most basic of questions...)
But.....I was full of largess that day and give him some spare change (coins) - he looked at me like I just crapped in his hand...

Sometimes people really do need help. The ones that will gladly take the food and drink, even if you don't give them money or buy something from them, are legit.

That exact same thing happened to me at the first eastbound service plaza in Indiana, in Portage. Same thing. Only slightly different.
Dude approached me as I was getting out of the truck, and said "Hey did you hear about the Swift driver who got fired?" I said "no" and he immediately changed the subject and said "the boss won the lottery, giving away money, blah blah blah". I get over there and they had the card game set up, some of the cards were creased, one had a burn mark on the corner. Right in front of the "dealer" about 5 or 6 guys kept telling me "he's an idiot, look, he's holding the cards where you can see them" and they were telling me WHICH card to pick, so I picked it and they gave me $40. Then I had to "double it" meaning bet $80 on the next hand. (40 of my own money).
Well there's 6 or 7 guys there, the cards were marked with creases and burn marks, plus they're calling the dealer an idiot when he was standing right there. None of these other guys were playing, of course. Two of them kept looking around. I already had one hand in my back pocket on my wallet, the other holding the $40 that I had "won" by picking the card that 3 guys pointed at. I backed up against the side of the JB Hunt trailer they were next to, so I could take my wallet-guarding hand away and stick it in my front pocket and hold my knife in my hand in case I had to whip it out. I said "I think I can tell a scam when I see one, I wasn't born yesterday". They acted a little pissed so I gave the $40 back to the guy who had handed it to me, and I walked away backwards for about 10 feet, then turned around, pulled my knife all the way out of my pocket and flipped open the blade until I was certain they weren't following me. I had stopped because I was starving but now I didn't want to leave my truck unattended so I hopped in and went to the next service plaza. -
No, I noticed that too and am surprised it took so long for someone to point it out.
