A driver for knight trans in oregon, became a lease driver for knight after 90 days he leased a truck from knight and did it for a year..His wife got cancer and he was the only full time care provider for her,so he had turn the truck back to knight and go home and care for her until she died last month..He called knight and asked about coming back to work..He was told sure but you have to start all over again as a new hire not a rehire, even though you have worked for us for a year and we had no problems and you left for a good reason and you must go through oreintation again and cant be a lease operator for another 90 days...company policy...IS THIS THE COMPANY YOU WANT TO WORK FOR?

That is sad, but most mega carriers have the same policy

Although I'm not a driver, the company I work for has a similiar policy. To be considered a re-hire, I would need to come back within 6 months of leaving.

I understand what you are saying but come on,,,, this is not the ususal reason leaves a company in good standing,,,there has to be at least one mega carrier that actually has a heart...everyone that recruits drivers,,swears we will back you all the way.....your a vital asset to the company a good driver and worker but,,,someone dies...to bad,,,back to the bottom again,,,someone has to be able to take it case by case...I think it way more than just said,,,its heartless,,,which proves what those carriers really are and what liars they all can be....

First and foremost, my condolences to the driver's family. It must be tough to lose your spouse.

Unfortunately, most, if not, all mega DO have a heart...of GREEN. That's all they want and care about, is the almighty $$$$$$. We as drivers serve a purpose. When we as drivers no longer serve a purpose, we're usually discarded like a piece of trash.

nothing surprises me about knights policy,,,knight,cr england, pride,us express, all those little babies born from their daddy swift are all the same and they are all connected at the hip by marriage or birth...talk about a monopoly.wonder why the feds dont check them all out like they do drivers...?
