A shower curtain and 30-40 gals of water, how much more weight can that be?
I would do it.
So, those of you that shower often, on the road that is.
How much is it?
Does your company pay for it?

M...garden hose...I don't think so LOL!
I think I'll just pay for showers LOL!
On the says I have to take 34 hours off, I'll grab a cab and hit a swimming pool or some gym that lets us pay daily. It'll still cost but the facilities would be fairly nice.
Hmmm... This is a funny subject. I live about 5 minutes from a Flying J. We have an apartment upstairs that we use right now. But we've talked about turning it into a separate unit sometime in the future. We could rent it out for 5 dollars an hour or 25 for the entire 10 hour break and let people take a shower and sit down and watch some tv in a relaxed environment. We could even set up some bunks for sleeping and treat it like a shared motel. For a price we could stock it with computers, food and such.
Do you think people would pay for something like this and be willing to share the space with other truckers? We could even set it up so that we run up and pick the guys up. Maybe we could get references in advance and work only with people that come through on a fairly consistent basis.
We could make it so that everyone has to bring their own sheets in order to try and make it cleaner.
We could even rent it out to several regional drivers for a monthly fee so that we wouldn't be inviting total strangers in again and again.
I'm surprised that more people haven't thought about offering cheaper motel services to truck drivers on the road just for short breaks and showers and a little down time.

With the skateboard I would get really bad dirty. I showered everyday if I could. I don't sleep well without a shower. Hardly ever paid for one though... with all the drivers payback cards you can get, free showers are just there and you should use them!!! I did pay for one that i will never forget... The Go Mart... I-70, exit 186 Old Washington, OH... I think it was 3 bucks... I thought they sent me to a back alley to shower... it was ok.. but not a place I would want to shower again. Someone stole all my mudflaps that night in the parking lot as well... haha that what I get for sleepin on the job eh?

Well, I don't think it would be too much on the weight at all...probably the heaviest thing would be the water...maybe a 25 gallon tank which is heated from the exhaust system. Pressurize it by tying into the trucks air system. My idea however, would let you take a shower inside the truck. Simply bring in the water line into the truck. Have a system set up somehow (since I dont know what the insides of the trucks totally look like...this is a rough idea) you can have a raised piece of plastic / fiberglass to step on which would act as a drain and drain all the water outside of the truck or to a storage container to be drained later. The floor platorm would be attached to the curtain thermally so that nothing can leak out...and the curtan would maybe zip up or something so no water escapes. Put on one of those one gallon a minute shower heads and you, in theory, can have a 25 minute shower. The floor would be able to tip up to finish draining and slide out of the way. There would be a single pole which attaches to the floor and goes up to support the top of the curtain, but that can be maybe put on a hinge so it too can be slid into a corner and out of the way, taking up little space.
I dunno, thats sort of my idea...haven't put too much thought into it...but I figure people can take a shower in their own truck, no matter where they are...that way, they know how clean it is...etc. -
I don't get it, what's wrong with you people?
How difficult is it to stop for a shower somewhere in a 24hr period?
Why do you let the job make you act like the homeless? Ok. Not a good reference.
Instead of dreaming about things your company will never let you do to their truck; as in hanging a tank of water & a recovery tank, invading their plumbing for hot water etc., how about just stopping for an hour to treat yourselves like a real human being?
If you refuse to do that, how about keeping a box of pretty smelling baby wipes for a quick refresher?
Those of us in line behind you or sitting nearby would certainly appreciate it. -
I shower daily, sometimes twice a day.
I will admit, there may be a day, now and then, that I miss a shower, but not often. Usually it is becaue I showered the night before, did nothing but drive the next day, and simply didn't feel like it.
You constantly pass truck stops though that have showers, so they are always available.
Showers are free where you purchase fuel (or simply with the companies you purchase fuel from via their loyalty card), but I am not always near one, so I often pay cash for one. $5-$9 dollars for a shower is well worth it, IMO. -
My husband is absolutely grossed out that I am thinking of bringing our daughter into truck stop showers. I told him that he just has to get over it. That's what they make bleach for.
How are the showers set up? Are they like locker rooms? Is it private enough?

Thank you
That's what I figured. My husband worries too much.
I may be wrong but I feel absolutely safe at the thought of spending my time around truck drivers. But I suppose that's because I have so many uncle truck drivers in my family.
