i saw a driver get a ticket for stopping on the shoulder in virginia. he had merely pulled off at an exit, crossed traffic to rejoin the interstate. he stopped on the shoulder of the acceleration ramp to take his jacket off as he said he was hot.

no, he was really hot after he got the ticket for illegally parking. i had to listen to him scream on the radio until i told him if he was that pissed off, he really needed to park that truck and stop being a distracted moving hazard for us other drivers on the road.

I broke down, actually Landstars trailer had a break down, just past the exit for Whites I bet I sat on that darn shoulder for over an hour before a trooper came along.....Seems like they are never around when you need one !!

That whole time I sat there waiting on road service only two drivers asked on the radio if I was ok.....A fellow Landstar and a Swift driver, it never used to be that way.. :biggrin_25513:

i live here also the police officers here are just bored they ran the younger generation off seems to me that they would rather see kids partying in the county than hangin around on greenville ave

I live in virginia and it seems like the police from troopers to dot could care less about a trucker-i had a brother who used to own his own truck and he had some fines he hadnt payed so when he stopped at the weigh station and they ran a check on him they thru him in jail and impounded his truck along with the produce he was hauling-a lot of it was his fault but it appears they just wanted to jerk with him-i asked him why he didnt just not come thru va and he said there wasnt no way around it if you was going north or south you had to go thru va.

I've parked on the shoulder in Va a few times. I've never had any problems with the Va cops or anyone else.
