Alternator Whine Filter..

If anyone finds an effective whine filter, would you please let me know? Sounds like something I could use by my desk at work...

By your avatar I'll assume FL w/Detroit power ??
Re-run your power/ground over to the fuse box and keep your ground as short as possible.
Then ground strap the Alt bracket to the frame(dont run off the bolt on the alt or sparks will fly)

 

if its a Cat,run the wire off the right side mount bolt straight down to the bracket on the water filter(guessing at the year model,assuming late model)
Takes about 11" of wire and two 3/8 connectors.
Havent done a Cummins so I cant advise what to tie to on the right side of the red motor ?????

I would be interested in what you do come up with if it is a Cummins

 

Inline filters will do you no good JD. Grounding is the only way you'll solve it. Also what kind of coax are you running and antenna set up that could be affecting it also.

Ground cab to chassis, doors to chassis, etc..... with flat braided ground straps.

 

Ok in that case I would look at installing a capacitor for the alternator. I have never found a choke/filter that actually worked but it sounds like if you could find on like you mentioned then it might work. Good luck either way noise from alternator drives me nuts coming through the cb.
