Yes, and I may be ugly, but I don't fit the rest of those... and wished this guy was speaking to me in person.

Geez fellas . . that was an attempt at humor.
You know, humor is when you post something that's supposed to be taken in jest.
Lo that I would insult someone I don't know.
Especially when I am looking for advise.
    Humor . . get it!

Not funny. If you had been here for several years, and aimed it at someone in particular, perhaps.

But that was just dumb, not humorous, and simply insulting. WE don't need to be reminded and have the stereotypes reinforced... reminded of what the people already thinks of some of the hardest working people in the nation.

Isn't that typical of people who aren't truckers who end up behind the wheel of a truck because they lost their office job and they think trucking is an easy fix until their other career comes back and they can get back to being a desk jockey? :biggrin_25520:

40 plus years of Marriage. You got my attention. I started feeling for ya srn1945, You have gone through some tough times. If I were you, find a Spotting job in some yard, from there you can build trust. I really think you can still do it. Again, You have to build trust in a company. Maybe even try a Small van, or straight truck, and from there, you will build trust. I truly think you will make it, just be patient, and keep trying, but dint get yourself depressed, over small things. My wife has this wooden decorative thing, it says, "With God, all things are Possible". Im not throwing the religious thing at you, But I tried it one time. IT WORKED. Good Luck.

    C'mon now hardest working? Really?

Doesn't even qualify in the toughest 5 I've had in my lifetime. Hardest??

Try dairy farming. Those day's off people keep whining about cows nor dairy farmers get them.

Try Metropolitan sewage dept. Yeah there's days off unless a lift station goes down, or a hurricane hits, or someone decides to dump a body down one(long storiy).

Try copper mining. Sissies from trucking wouldn't last three minutes.

Try beef farming. Those days when you people pull off the road and find a warm snuggly spot, well we are trying to save our business from starvation and frost bite.

Try roofing. Ah yes hot tar, 100 deg in the shade, fiber glass bats for slope. No A/C. No APU. No radio(gotta here if someone starts screaming don below when you over mop an edge). Pizz warm water because cold water will drop you where you stand. Did I mention the humidity being thick enough that your shorts need to be wrung out?

    Hardest working? Truck drivers???????

Not even in the top ten and that would include managing a Dominoes.

Try not to hurt yourself crawling up on that cross there Sparky.

Paying respect to the career field, instead of dogging folks, that's all. Try that much?

No, trucking isn't as hard as being in chem gear for 10 days straight, without a shower or a good night's sleep... in the middle of the Summer in Korea - think Miami, new orleans, or the Texas Coast... only it smells like POOP everywhere you go. That, and fish head soup.

It isn't as hard as "humping a Buff" or a B-1... yes, walking wingtip to wingtip, across either the front or rear of a nuclear-loaded aircraft, on a cement parking ramp.. for 12 hours straight - eating a MRE on the hump... only leaving your post for a few minutes to go pee.

How about having your son diagnosed with cancer, not knowing from day to day whether he'll survive, or how you'll make it financially...

Now that I've established that I've done jobs that are a LOT harder than trucking... why would you try to pick my post apart, when I said "some of the hardest working people"... perhaps you should go back to pulling the wings off of flies or hummingbirds...

It seems that if you're not hacking on someone for no apparent reason, you're playing world victim whilst trying to defend the legalization of pot.

Please join the rest of us in treating folks with some respect.

Tazz, There are a lot of Heavy Equipment haulers here, that would be a challenge for anyone. Each Trade has its need for the best and To work very hard at the job. Tankers are another challenge, One screw up and Your history. We will argue, challenge others Opinions, Major disagree, And mostly Agree. I have gotten upset at some, long ago, And What I said to them, Later I felt bad about what I have said to Offend them. I went back later and Apologized to them. That is harder to do than, Farming, roofing, and Mining.
