Why would they? Stevens has a sound balance sheet without the government grants that are available to any company in any industry that is willing to train and hire an unemployed person.
You sure do spend a lot of time bad mouthing Stevens, why don't you support the company you drive for now? who is it, and what are they doing that works for you.

your attitude sure has changed over the year. Why NOT say who you went to work for, and why... so that others can have more information to help them make up their own mind.

I agree, it sure is easy to hide and throw crap rather than tell us where you are now.

Well I can say my miles are still a bit low, although if this week pans out i'll pull 2700 my highest in the past 3 months out.

My average is 2350 since April, which in a lease truck is not all that good. Sitting at the petro in Oak grove, mo. Got a Kraft load with tons of time on it (due in Tolleston, az on the 14th) So I'll be looking for a repower on 40 on monday. Unless I can get the appt moved up.

Been running alot of last minute loads, but the miles just haven't been adding up. right now, I'd be doing better on the company side. They pulled me to the yard on June 29th.. spent 20 hours there. which as we all know is 19 too long. Yes you can clear the yard in less then a day.. just takes timing.

Tleaheart......i have a cdl job through the teamsters union. give your local a call......i don't like stevens.i know all the drivers on this site are good people. i was single when i started at stevens. so,i was able to fullfil my contract..but,it was not easy.my message is mean.but, the message is true. the recruiter is promising newbies 40k a year.1st year.which is a fairly normal wage for an american.then, you work for stevens that first year and earn 20k. being single it is possible.my warning is to those people with kids, home payments, bills, support payments.these people will starve at stevens.probably quit.and then get their wages garnished for $5,500(student loan) at their next job.i don't like the dishonesty at stevens. hurting or putting good people in a bad situation, based on a recruiters lie,is not good business.i not knocking you drivers.i know what you go through.i'm knocking the company,

I agree with you TLeaHeart, I do have one question though. What do you think if anything will happen to the training program. Is it true that the program is funded with government grants, if so wont these public grants be the first things to go when our national debt does hit its Ceiling? I hate that I was affected by Stevens22 comment:biggrin_25510:, but I have been thinking a lot about how Stevens could be affected by all of this. What do you know about the company that I do not. Do you think they will still offer a financed schooling for new hires if funding is cut? Am I confused on the process? Thanks!!!:biggrin_25514:

I don't recall ever heating any recruiter or instructor in the school even mention a yearly salary. They did mention the mileage pay and did say to expect anywhere from 2500.- 3200 miles a week on AVERAGE.

You can safely ignore anything and everything stevens22 has to say. Most of us do already. He's what you call a troll.
And Stevens isn't the only training company that gets money for training. Every training company does. Prime, Swift, CREngland, all of them. And if the fed money stops, I don't see any of them changing much at all. If they don't get paid from the fedgov to train, they still have to hire new drivers to deliver food across the country as current drivers retire, die, quit, get fired and/or move on to bigger pay.
Stevens school isn't 'funded' by fedgov, Stevens gets about a thousand dollars for training someone who's never had a CDL before, is unemployed, or changing career fields to transportation. So does almost any company in almost any industry where the fedgov is so heavily involved.
And stevens22 is currently driving a school bus. The short kind. Though he's not always driving it so much as being taken places on it. I suspect, anyway.
See, he's so bitter against Stevens because he washed out of the school the first week. Probably about the time the drug tests were given. Or he failed along the way somewhere, either in the school or once out in a truck with a trainer or shortly after going solo.
