Howdy all, got room for one more non-bitter ex-buzzard? Boy, I remember being warned not to use that around the terminal. Almost as bad as telling Terry how much you love being at Stevenson Transportation.

They don't have any senior driver perks anymore?

Don't use the word 'hitting' while talking to driving.Shiftylots Thanks this. -
It's ok to hit the streets, just don't hit anything else while you're at it.

Still here tonight.
They took my DPF filter off to clean it and discovered some problem.
"Don't worry...it's warranty. The rep will be here tomorrow to take a look."
So I have a feeling I'll be here a couple more days.
Now we go for breakdown pay... -
Eww, sorry Emu! Best hopes it's done tomorrow. That should qualify for breakdown pay though.
Here's today's mess.
Got a phone call from the DM this afternoon, asking me if I had time after dropping at the rail to get to Morris and back to Indy. He has a load needing there by 7am. I do some head math and say sure. So he says drop and bobtail to Morris.
Okay.
So, I get to the rail and get to see the pre-plan. He didn't mention it was due off the dock at 9:30pm. I do some math, and I can JUST make it, if they have it done on time. Now, we're talking about Morris here. Their loaded times are never on time. I call in, and of course now my DM is gone for the day. I tell night crew, but we all know that's, well, I told them anyway. I was told to pick it up and send in a running late and a repower request. Now, I know we don't do repower requests on this fleet anyway.
So, I drop at the rail and head to Morris. Get here about seven. If it's ready, I can make it easy. It's not. ETA is, drum roll please, 10pm. No way in Hades I can make it. I call again. Told the same thing, pick it up, late message, repower message.
sigh.
Wait for it to be loaded. They say they have a rush on it.
10pm comes and goes. Check in again. Should be soon.
Sigh.
11pm
sigh
11:30 on the dot, they call. Ready. I go to the office, sign in the window says "on break, back in a few minutes"
sigh
Midnight, I'm out the shipper's yard and parked, doing the messages, PTI reports and daily check call. Oh, and a running late.

Wow,a lot of new names joining the forumn.Nice to see that breath of fresh air. Also very nice to hear Mr Cheney is back. Two awesome weeks for me and my co-driver,9500 miles for the last two weeks.Needless to say I made a little bit of money the last two weeks. We even got by my casa for a day to lay by the pool,go to a movie, and eat a good home cooked meal.My co-driver couldnt thank me enough.Hell,he deserved it.The first week he drove 3100 himself.Sitting at home I get a 1000 mile repower for the next morn, cool. Then I get a call from my DM on a driver needing to get home off my 2nd drop,o/k I say keeps me rolling with extra miles. He decides to park at a different truckstop then it was set up for, only contacts night dispatch by qualcomm, you can quess what happens.I being savvy on drivers not doing what they are supposed to do wake up two hrs before the delivery to find a message on my asleep qualcomm with his change of truckstops.Good thing we are twenty miles from the reciever.ANYWAY run down to where he is at,wake them up,they are in a hurry now.Didnt dawn on me at the time, the load has to go.When unhooking his co-driver doesnt lower the landing gear all the way to the ground. My co-driver is waving and screaming to no avail.Slam, wtf, cant get my fifth wheel under it.Really,I was hot by now.We had to double team the handle to lift 45000 lbs of meat off the ground.deetadee,Ive got this.Anyway it gets better. After they are gone discover a bald flat tire on the trailer, good thing Ive been taking my blood pressure medication. It gets better.Time to scale.Pull over to the cat,35560 on the drives with only three available holes to move. The guy hasnt even bothered to scale a 79500 pound load.Lucking Im heading up I71 THRU Ohio and Penn,Lovely day.Guy better hope I never see him again. And this guy is a trainer.Im calm now a-hole.Sitting in Erie, picking up a short load running to geneva,We needed a break.Everybody be safe.
