Can any current TMC drivers give me a general idea about your average workday- when you start, when you call it a day, wait times, and how often you have to drive all night to make that next morning delivery ?

You will probably have to wait until next weekend for an answer they are all on the road now so they can make their 8 am delivery time.

I just left Maverick last week because of the long work day/week. TMC drivers haul in and out of many of the same places I did and I heard most of them complaining of long days and little home time. Some guys like it some don't. It depends a lot on your family situation if you will like it or not.

OMG, Lets not work to hard. I was raised to work hard, long hours and do a good job doing it. Time and time again i hear people on here complaining about long days and not being home that much. I am currently in the military and i am getting ready to go back to iraq for the 4th time in 4 yrs with an average time away from my family for 8-9 months at a time. I generaly work 12-14 hours a day 6 days a week when im home. I am lucky to have a wife thatsupports me and can survive on her own for long periods of time. For being an OTR driver when i get back from this trip will be a break. I am able to be with my family for 4 moths this time. Remember there are people out there that give alot more than me and don't complain. For me being able to be away for 3 weeks, my wife to even be able to call me when she wants, not limited to 4 calls a month, and able to take my son with me during the summer, not having to leave him for months at a time i would be in heaven as an OTR driver. I know this will probably #### people off, well don't ##### till you have lived mine and other military that sacrafice so much.

    Geez.
The trucking life is not for you if you can't handle long days. Good luck on finding ANY body that will give you a 8 hr a day trucking job.

    McDonalds has 8 hr shifts.

    Thank you for your service!!!!

I had to remind myself and my wife when I was doing OTR that there are folks that have it far worse than we do, being apart for 2 weeks at a time, being able to call each other WHEN EVER we wanted to thru the day.

Thanks for your post brick. I will be retiring from the military soon (20yrs). It looks like i will be going with TMC due to the fact that i have talked to a recruiter many times and the answer they gave me to my question (after my research) has been right on the money. In my talks to TMC drivers i get the same attitude (good company, good pay, fix trucks when broke, don't make them run illegal). I want to work hard cause thats just me. It really makes the day go by faster and OMG you get payed more. And brick that was a good one with the McDonalds comment. Who do you run for or are you an o/o?

I've been OTR O/O independent and then with Landstar. Currently company slave hauling crude oil local, home every night.

Personally I would go with Maverick before TMC, but thats just based on what I've seen and heard, both from this board and drivers. But thats just opinion. TMC may well be a good fit for you.
