There's ones that would steal from their own mother. Honor amongst thieves supercedes honor amongst O/O's. The only reason he might choose a company truck over you is the company truck has more fuel in it.
AFSTruckerswife Thanks this. -
This is just theft of FUEL.
Work retail. You think you've seen theft? Working it has taught me truly that people of all ages, sizes, etc will steal ANYTHING. Hell, 2 days ago we had a lady rip a lock peg off our isle that held a TV, put in the cart, and ran out of emergency doors where a truck was waiting. Elapsed time: 2minutes. Time: 8:01AM (when the store opened).
Caught within 3 days doing it at a different store.
People are ruthless and don't care. I hate thefts alot. They steal a 1000$ TV the person in electronics will lose their job or get written up for not being in a position to report it to AP. This is one of 10million things that happen at stores. Seen a bum open UNCOOKED meat and eat it. Gross.
I'm glad I work in logistics. Warehouse / Backroom of store is so much better. -
Yes...A thief is a thief!
Really?
So being a thief is OK as long as you only steal from from the people that YOU percieve to be the "bad guys"?
Some poor schmuck driver will be held accountable in some way for the fuel that you steal from his company truck.
It's a fine line between stealing from a company truck and stealing from pretty much anyone else, If you have the lowlife mentality of a thief it'll be a very small step to justify in your mind the difference and you will cross that line at some point because in your mind you are the only one that matters and everyone else is there to provide you with stuff to steal.
If I see someone siphoning fuel from any truck whether it's a company truck or not....I will react accordingly.Crzyseekr, I_HATE_MINIVANS, Pur48Ted and 8 others Thank this. -
As a former Loss Prevention officer in the retail business I can tell you that ppl will steal anything and everything!
I once busted a family shoplifting together, the child had cerebral palsy and was in a wheelchair, they would lift him out of his seat and hide stuff underneath him!
Interesting fact: The MOST stolen book in the world is the...........BIBLE!

I know, but I very rarely see them, and it's a shame to think back to the late 70's when locks were on everything.

I make it a habit to be 100% honest about anything involving money or material items such as parts, additives, fuel, freight, etc. Several times I've had rejected freight or overages that weren't marked on the bills, and I called our OS&D lady anyway.
One time I had to ditch pallets and we didn't have any pallet places in that area in our list of pallet accounts, but I found one with my laptop. The guy asked for my name, then handed me a check written out to ME, for $50. I handed it back to him and had him tear it up and write out a new one in my company's name, and I sent it, along with the receipt, in with my trip papers.
Why did I do that?
1. Because they weren't my pallets.
2. If something happens like fuel is stolen out of my truck, or the trailer is broken into or there's a shortage and a discrepancy in the seal record or something, I've established a reputation for honesty and they're more likely to believe I had nothing to do with it.cableclown, dwmac71, AFSTruckerswife and 2 others Thank this. -
I wouldn't put it past a crappy company driver from SELLING the fuel out of his truck, then later, stealing fuel from someone so he doesn't have show where the fuel went.

They're very common...Most of them are not very good. I bought a set of locking fuel caps from Kenworth last year and the locks froze on the first trip with them, I just grabbed them and put the arm to them and they came right off! No tools necessary.
I now have a set of caps from a company called "Robond" that are bulletproof! You might get my fuel but you won't get it through the caps.
These pieces of human garbage will sell anything! Who has not pulled into a truckstop and heard some lowlife on the CB trying to sell loadlocks, fuel, tires, tiedown equipment and just about anything else that you could think of.
Of course these same lowlifes are the ones that you hear complaining about how badly they're treated and how the compamy doesn't respect them...But they're not bright enough to figure out why.Last edited: Jul 16, 2011
